The shop was located at Taman Bahtera so it was a long ride since we came with motorcycles. Their nasi lemak and nasi kerabu were so delicious. You guys can come and try to eat with your friends later !

the day after checking into UPSI hostel, me and my friends joined a volunteering program hosted by UPS pre loved shoppe (a club in UPSI). We were able to plant mangroves and trash cleanup at a beach in Selangor ! We gained new experiences and extra knowledges about mangroves. They are salt-tolerant trees in coastal zones, they have so many unique adaptations like pneumatophores to survive salty and low oxygen mud. Besides that they also absorbs and store CO2, helping with climate change. It was a fun time learning about them.

playing frisbee has been our night time routine every once in a while ever since we joined UPSI frisbee club (red scorpion). when we play frisbee, our muscle need energy which is ATP as the immediate energy source. Little did we know playing frisbee involves glycolysis, Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain to produce more ATP. Besides that it also involves lactic acid formation as oxygen becomes limited if we sprinted. I had fun playing frisbee and it helps me get away from stress.

For Week 5, we are required to conduct self-learning on the topic of Carbohydrates as part of our independent study. This self-learning activity allows us to explore and understand the fundamental concepts related to carbohydrates, including their structure, classification, and biological importance in the human body. Through careful review of lecture notes, textbooks and additional learning resources, we are able to gain a deeper understanding of carbohydrate metabolism and its role in energy production and glucose regulation.

After completing the self-learning session, we are required to create and compile questions based on these topics to assess our understanding and reinforce key concepts. I used the sources provided by the lecturer and used Gemini to generate the questions. With this method, less time was spent solely on creating the questions. Since I had already generated the questions, I also attempted to answer them. I additionally used NotebookLM to help me better understand the topic. I asked it to generate the content in the form of images so that each process would be clearer and easier to learn and understand. Specifically, I generated infographics related to carbohydrate metabolism, namely gluconeogenesis, glycogenesis, glycogenolysis, and glycolysis, to enhance my understanding of these processes.

its finally midsem break! of course i had to go home, penang🫶🏻 catching up with my high school bestie! telling each others stories about our university life. it’s refreshing to see how much we’ve grown up but it was never awkward when we meet. we ate our favourite nasi kandar which is deen mutiara nasi kandar and it was the best so far! always been our fav. my order when ordering nasi kandar is nasi putih + kuah campur + ayam bawang (the star) + bendi rebus + salted egg. THE BEST COMBO🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 but of course with the amount of sauces there, the calories must’ve been high. Not for everyday but just when the craving hits or cheat day for those who are on diet ;)

We took our first batch photo with our official batch shirt. It was quite a struggle to find a design that could satisfy all 126 people in the batch. Each of us had different opinions but in the end everyone agreed on this design. However, the process of choosing the design involved various emotions. From a scientific perspective, these feelings occurred because our brains process opinions and emotions differently, which can lead to disagreement, dissatisfaction and judgment before reaching a final decision. It was a fun and memorable experience, and the batch shirt now reminds us of our teamwork and patience. 💪🏻

Not to mentioned that, we are having our first lab session for this week, which is enzyme lab! So exciting! Besides that, I learned a new way of doing lab reports using LabFlex, created by Dr. Shake. It was fun and made lab work more interesting

my old self would be shocked i took chemistry for my minor in university, but here i am. This was when we did glass blowing experiment ! we made test tubes. i loveeee learning new things. i made the perfect round test tube! with the help of the lab assistant of course, but still i made it😽 the process was scary not gonna lie, the lab assistant said that the blue flame is dangerous. The new things i learned is that glass react to flame differently than iron. The heat travels on iron but not on glass. The heat will only heat up one part that touches the fire. It was amazing process overall 🤩. p/s the flame was hotttt and i was sweating like crazy

KUO water stop functioning for a day and half 🧍🏻‍♀️we had to shower at the mosque, my motorcycle’s tyres deflated and i don’t understand anything in genetics class because i kept thinking about how i am going to bring my motorcycle to the workshop. I am amazed that i didn’t cry, i mean crying wont do anything. Turns out they needed to change the tyre, damage is around rm135 for the tyre itself. My parents are far to come check but i am grateful i am surrounded by kind people. I ask my guy friend to help me deal with the workshop and it makes my problems felt so much lighter. thank you 🥹

sometimes, bad stuff happens and thats life. you just have to go through it 🫶🏻 don't allow cortisol steal your joy for too long! 💋

My father brought me a fresh rose and my mom had planned to bring a bouquet but she accidentally left it at home 😂 so they just bought another flower. I was so thankful they came and it really cheered me up.

Before the award, my batch and I had a 4 days and 3 night camping trip which was really exhausting, but totally worth it. We experienced jungle trekking, water confident and orienteering. We were all exhausted, sun-kissed and muddy but those shared smiles made the heavy rucksacks and the long nights worth it. It was the perfect "final hurdle" before the celebration.

During our first week, I participated in a volunteer program where we cleaned the beach and planted mangrove trees. Through this activity, I realized that not everyone truly cares about our beaches. People know that throwing rubbish into the sea can cause serious problems in the future, yet they still continue to do it. While cleaning the beach, we found a lot of rubbish everywhere especially plastic. I hope that all of us will take better care of our sea in the future.

Over the next two days, we went for breakfast at a place that sells delicious Nasi Lemak and Nasi Kerabu. It was a great carbohydrate boost in the morning, and I felt full until the evening. During the first week, I also tried to run 3 km. It was a good run and my pace improved. I aim to achieve a 5 km run at UPSI and I will keep trying. However, my hand felt numb, so I asked Dr. Shake for advice. He advised me not to force my body to run too fast and to slow down instead.

I also asked ChatGPT for some explanation, it said "Your hands may feel numb while running because blood is redirected to your leg muscles reducing circulation to your hands. Tensing your fists, shoulders or neck can also compress nerves and blood vessels, while fast or shallow breathing may lower oxygen levels and cause tingling. These factors together explain why slowing down, relaxing your arms, and breathing properly can reduce numbness."

This week, I had both biochemistry and genetics lab sessions. The genetics lab was super cool because I got to extract my own DNA, feels like holding a tiny piece of myself in a tube! In biochemistry, we did a lipid lab, testing samples like biscuits and peanuts to see how much fat they contain. Later in the week, we had a genetics quiz it was really tough, but I did well because I studied hehe. After all that brain work, I needed to blow off some steam, so I played frisbee. It’s such a good workout because running and throwing uses energy from carbohydrates and fats, and sweating helps my body get rid of toxins, keeping me healthy

Week 11 was kind of chill but also a bit rushy. I had chemistry lab on electrochemistry, and I got to observe the color changes in the solutions it was so cool and satisfying! I also attended a curriculum day where my frisbee club had a booth. Promoting the sport was super fun, especially seeing so many people joining our club. Of course, I fueled my muscles with nasi kerabu extra beef hehe, and I even got mangosteen it was soooo delicious, I love it! Eating protein from the beef and antioxidants from the mangosteen definitely helped keep my energy up for all the activities.

Since we have a week-long break, I decided to head back home. My mom was so relieved to finally have her daughter back by her side. I spent my days accompanying my family to shop for their vacation essentials which the same vacation they went on while I was busy with my exams! But it’s okay, I’ve made peace with it (redha) haha. We went to Genting Premium Outlet during the Christmas event and since there were so many promotions, I took the chance to buy my very first Montigo bottle at 30% off. Overall, I truly enjoyed every moment spent with my family.

During the third week, we AT11 always spent time together. We played frisbee, netball, volleyball, and laughed together. Our friendship is very precious, and I felt truly grateful to have them as my batchmates throughout my degree journey.

In the same week, we went to Berjaya Times Square. We had already planned this trip during the semester break and purchased all the tickets. We had so much fun, and my adrenaline was rushing the whole day. My voice even disappeared for a while because of all the shouting and laughing.

I just know that playing rides like roller coasters can boosts adrenaline because our brain perceives the experience as a sudden threat or intense excitement. Rapid speed, height, drops and sharp turns activate our body’s fight-or-flight response, causing the adrenal glands to release adrenaline. This hormone will increase heart rate, breathing and blood flow to muscles making we feel alert, excited, and energized. Even though we know the ride is safe, but our body will react as if it’s facing danger which creates the adrenaline rush.

On Saturday, I attended my GKRS class and learned how to treat injured people. It was new knowledge for me because I was not a KRS student in high school. As a small bonus, I also got to eat my favorite Kek Batik from Sarawak.

This week was full of excitement because it was my first time serving as vice secretary for the Media Seeker Club. I was in charge of decorating the backdrop for our Annual Grand Meeting. Since I’m not very creative, I was nervous at first, but I managed to finish on time, and I felt proud of how it turned out and it actually looked beautiful!

I also spent more time with my batchmates, and it was so much fun, laughing, playing, and burning calories together. During the weekend, we cooked and ate together for the first time, making Bibimbap, a Korean dish. It was delicious, and definitely a satisfying carb load at night, huhu. I will not eat a lot at night after this because biochemically, eating carbohydrates at night raises blood glucose and stimulates insulin release. Insulin allows glucose to be used for energy or stored as glycogen but because activity is usually low at night, excess glucose is more likely converted into fat.

On top of that, I went for a 3 km run to burn the fat and managed to improve my pace, which felt like a great achievement.

I went to celebrate my friend Najihah’s graduation day at PWTC. I was joined by Mia, my friend from high school to spend this special day for Najihah. We caught the KTM at 7:00 in the morning and arrived by 10:00 AM. We hurried our steps to the venue and luckily we managed to catch the moment she went up on stage. We bought two big bouquets for her. She was so overwhelmed with joy because we fulfilled our promise to get her the lilies she wanted. After the ceremony, Mia and I spent some quality time together even hitting up a photo booth to capture the memories. We headed home in the evening since we ran out of ideas on where else to wander. To end the day, I went out at night to play frisbee with my friends. It was a busy and tiring day, but it was absolutely worthwhile.

We celebrated New Year’s in KL again! We went to see the new Papa Zola movie, and it was absolutely heart-wrenching. The film beautifully portrayed the sacrifices a father makes for his family. But the most exciting part? At the very end, they confirmed that a third BoBoiBoy movie is coming! I honestly can't wait for that day to arrive. After the movie, playing frisbee was a must as usual but the difference this time was that we played in the heavy pouring rain! By the time I got home, I was hit with a terrible skin itch and rash caused by the rainwater. I’ve definitely learned my lesson that I’m never doing that again! Overall, though, our New Year holiday was well spent. 😗

By Week 13, it finally hit us hard that we had a mountain of assignments to finish. All that's left now are our Biochemistry and Genetics assignments, specifically the pitching sessions. In biochemistry class, we had a session called Master Guru where each of us in the group need to present their own topic. It was a fun session and from there it can help boost my confidence in teaching people even more. Then, one night during the week, my friends and I decided to pull an all-nighter at the 24-hour library. I can tell you right now, we were all beyond exhausted and we looked so messy haha! We caught the bus there at 10:00 PM and only headed back to the college at 8:00 the next morning. Aside from the study grind, we were introduced to playing frisbee on the actual field for the first time. It was honestly so much more fun playing on the grass compared to the court!

This week, I received a reward for all my hard work over the past two semesters. I achieved a PNGK of 3.80 and received a First Class Dean’s Award. I hope I can maintain my results so that I can receive the same award at the next Dean’s Award ceremony.

My mom came to watch me receive the award and it became a strong motivation for me to achieve it again next year. She also bought brownies for my friends and even took on a motherly role for them as their parents could not come because they live far away. My mom is already well known among my friends, and they always ask her for her banana cakes. I am happy to share my mom with them. 💕

Before the hectic week began, we decided to clear our minds by going on a one-day trip. We chose to go to Genting Highlands because it was on my bucket list. They remembered that I had said I really wanted to go there, so they decided to take me after the mid-semester break.

It was really cold there, around 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. It was so windy and cold that it felt like being inside a refrigerator. My hands could hardly hold anything properly. Even though we turned off the car air conditioner, the cold wind still made me freeze inside the car.

I was doing some research why my hand cannot hold thing properly in such a cold environment. This is because cold causes the blood vessels to narrow to preserve heat for vital organs which reduces blood flow and oxygen to the fingers, making the muscles weaker and the nerves less sensitive.

We waited for the sunrise, and it was truly beautiful. Alhamdulillah, I got to see such a magnificent view in my twenties. One day, I hope to see it again with my mom and my brother. That is a dream I want to achieve.

Week 10 was a busy and hectic week. First, I was in charge as an AJK for two booths in my organization, Media Seeker booth and Red Scorpion booth. Thankfully, my friend was able to cover my place at the Red Scorpion booth, so I only worked at the Media Seeker booth as a photographer. It was my first time doing that and it was a good experience for me.

The next day, I went out with my friends for lunch, and suddenly our car was hit from behind. It was my first time experiencing something like that and all of us in the car were girls. Thankfully, there were people who were willing to help us. After that, we went back to UPSI to find food because we were already hungry, and we met Dr. Shazwan. He treated us Taco and I felt very grateful to him. In the evening, my friend treated me again. Even though something bad happened in the morning, I believe in Allah. I believe that He always gives us something better afterward.

At night, we went to support our friend in his singing competition. The next day, we rewarded ourselves by eating durian. It was so good and only cost RM2 per kilogram. During this week, I also officially became a facilitator for the Faculty of Science and Mathematics and we had our first meeting as facilitators.

This week, we conducted a DNA extraction during our Genetics Laboratory. It was really fascinating to see DNA that comes from inside our mouths. I used an AI tool that Dr. Shake introduced to better understand how DNA is extracted.

At night, we played frisbee, my favourite sport. The game was very intense, and we even had to discuss a game plan to win. The next day, I got my first henna at UPSI. It cost RM10 for one hand and I was very satisfied with the results. It was impressive that it was done in just 10 minutes.

During the weekend, we went to Kuala Lumpur to eat at Dodo, a delicious Korean restaurant. The food was really good, affordable, and kept us full until night. I also went to watch Papa Zola: The Movie. The movie was really really good, and I cried a lot while watching it. It was very touching and I never expected to cry so much over a cartoon movie hehehe

Welcome 2026, entering the new year with the same people I met in 2024. Celebrating with loved ones created beautiful memories for me. On New Year’s Eve, my roommates and I celebrated by eating together and watching movies. We also had cake and it was so delicious guys!

On the morning of 1 January 2026, my mom came to see me and brought my favourite food, Ayam Masak Merah. It was sooo good. She knew I had been craving it for a long time. She also brought peeled rambutan for me.

That same night, we played frisbee together in the rain. It had been so long since I last played in the rain, and it reminded me of my childhood. I make some research why some people usually get fever after playing in the rain. ChatGPT explained to me that playing in the rain itself does not directly cause fever, but it can make us more likely to get sick. When we get soaked in rain our body temperature can drop, which may weaken our immune response temporarily. This makes it easier for viruses or bacteria to infect our body. If we are already exposed to germs, the infection can then cause a fever as part of our body’s immune response. Getting wet, staying cold for too long, and not drying off properly increase this risk.

During the same week, we ate Ayam Gepuk for the first time in 2026. It was a good carbohydrate load and gave us the energy we needed to settle all our assignments.

The most hectic week that made many students start joking about getting married had finally arrived. First, we had a facilitator bonding day where we played together including frisbee, badminton, and handball. It was a great bonding experience and I made friends with many other facilitators.

Then the hectic days began. We had to do an online presentation for our minor subject, so we gathered at KZ to prepare and finalize the presentation. During the same week, I discovered that UPSI has an art gallery at the e-Learning building. We visited it for the first time and it was so beautiful. I will definitely come again to take proper pictures with the artwork.

Lastly, we had to take serious action to complete our assignments by staying up overnight at the library. We took the bus at 10 p.m. and stayed until the next morning. I will probably do it again during study week, as I still have a lot to understand about my subjects. Pray for me, everyone. 🙏

week 14 is something else, a very busy week. Starting off by genetic’s pitching, we have to present our innovations that we have been prepared for weeks. The adrenaline here is real as i can feel my heart rate increases. But everything went well. Next is the KPM scholarship briefing. I am grateful I managed to secure a scholarship for degree, it somewhat helps my parents and myself in financial. The briefing is basically to answer all of our questions about the scholarship and give back the agreement documents. Lastly is the thai restaurant that me and my friends went and the food is amazing. The seafood is fresh, i love the tomyam i am salivating as i am typing this right now, well that is controlled by autonomic nervous system. Basically everything in our life has their relation to biochemistry. I guess that conclude my journey for this semester, my hope in biochemistry is for me to get an A. Bismillah wish me luck ! Big thanks to Dr Shake for teaching us for this semester, couldn’t have made it without her guidance🫶🏻.

p/s: that thai restaurant is called papaya pok pok located just in front of UPSI, pretty girls don't gatekeep 🤣

We repeated the protein laboratory experiment twice due to an error. We did not encounter the problem when the experiment was repeated, and the results remained consistent. Eventually, we identified the source of the error, which was the incorrect use of a micropipette. We should have used a 1000 µL micropipette but instead used a 100 µL micropipette. As a result, the volume used in the experiment was insufficient to produce accurate results. We have taken careful note of this mistake to avoid repeating it in future laboratory sessions. Due to this error, satisfactory results were not obtained.

Thanks to Dr. Shake for introducing AI to us, we were able to complete our genetic pitching successfully and be prepare for the biochemistry pitching.

At the end of the week, I attended our Training of Trainers camp. I was unwell during the camp, which made me really stressful as I could not fully enjoy it. We also completed our Xplorate pitching and slide for this week.

Psychomotor skill is demonstrated when handling acetone through controlled and careful hand movements during laboratory work. Acetone is a volatile and hazardous chemical, so precise coordination is required to pour, transfer and handle it safely. Goggles must be worn to protect the eyes from accidental splashes that can cause irritation or injury. A fume hood is used because acetone evaporates easily and releases vapours that can be harmful if inhaled. Working inside a fume hood helps remove these vapours and reduces the risk of dizziness and fire. Overall, the safe handling of acetone reflects good psychomotor skills by combining proper movement, awareness and use of protective equipment.

Psychomotor skill is demonstrated through the correct use of a micropipette in laboratory experiments. Using a pipette requires steady hand movements and proper finger control to accurately measure and transfer liquid volumes. We correctly set the desired volume, hold the pipette vertically and press the plunger smoothly to the appropriate stop to avoid air bubbles or volume errors. Careful placement of the pipette tip into the solution and controlled release of the plunger are essential to ensure accurate aspiration and dispensing. Developing this psychomotor skill helps improve accuracy, reduce experimental errors and ensure reliable and consistent laboratory results.

For Week 14, as the date for the biochemistry pitching is getting closer, I tried to deepen my understanding of the presentation that will be delivered. For our Xplorate topic, we chose intermittent fasting. I used the help of NotebookLM to generate an infographic so that it would be clearer what happens hour by hour to the enzymes in our body when we practice intermittent fasting. (You can see the infographic as you slide the pictures.) I pick 16:8 method to see more clearly how enzyme regulate in the body as well as hormones regulation and metabolism. In addition, I also searched up on the internet of how intermittent fasting relate with the process of glycogenolysis and other process as well.

However, the challenging part for this week was that, at the same time, I was also involved in a camp as a facilitator, which was a Training of Trainers (TOT) at UAP. I stayed at the camp for 3 days and 2 nights. I experienced activities similar to the BIB camp, but this time the camp included additional obstacle challenges.

This is the trigger that we choose for our Xplorate.

Dr. Jason Fung argues that the conventional "calories in, calories out" model is a deception because obesity is fundamentally a hormonal condition triggered by insulin, which acts as an instruction telling the body to store energy as fat and preventing it from accessing those fat stores. Consequently, exercise has a "very very small effect" on weight loss because it does not address this underlying hormonal trigger. Not only is the number of calories burned during activity numerically insignificant compared to diet, but exercise also creates a "rebound" hunger effect that causes people to eat back what they burned. Therefore, Intermittent Fasting (IF) is presented as the essential solution, not just to reduce calories but to extend the period of time without food allowing insulin levels to finally drop and switching the body’s hormonal signal from "store" to "burn”. Thereby unlocking body fat for fuel in a way that exercise alone cannot achieve.

While exercise is great for staying at your current weight, it doesn't work well for losing weight on its own. To actually burn fat, you must change what you eat, because exercise alone can't beat a bad diet.

During the first week of the semester, there was not much to do since classes had not fully begun. I spent most of my time preparing by reading through the proforma for each subject to get a clear idea of what I would be learning throughout the semester. This helped me feel more organized and mentally ready for the weeks ahead. It was a calm start, allowing me to slowly adjust back into a study routine without feeling stressed.

I also took some time to hang out with my friends, and we had dinner together at Four Seasons Steamboat. I ordered chicken, mushrooms, vegetables, meat, and soup, and everything tasted really good. The meal was filling and satisfying, especially because it was rich in protein, which helps my body to recover and stay energized.I consciously avoided carbohydrates that night since I had consumed a large amount of rice the day before. I want to allow my body to balance its energy intake and rely more on proteins and fats for metabolism. Overall, it was a fun and relaxing evening and a nice way to start the semester on a positive note.

In the second week of the semester, I unexpectedly fell sick. It felt a little ironic because students usually get sick toward the end of the semester due to heavy workloads and lack of sleep. This experience reminded me of the saying that we should not be too confident about our health, as anything can happen. I went to PKU to get treatment and was given medication. The doctor explained that although I had been working a lot, I was eating less than usual. He advised me to avoid overworking and to make sure I eat on time to maintain my energy and health.

Despite not feeling fully well, I still had work to complete for IKSAS that Saturday. My friend and I decided to work at Momoyo since we were craving something sweet, especially milk tea. After taking a few sips, I felt more spirited and motivated to continue our work. I think the sugar in the drink likely increased my blood glucose level, providing quick energy that helped improve my focus and mood.

The next day, I went to DKP for our program’s preparation. I skipped breakfast because I overslept and went there on an empty stomach. During the preparation, I took pictures and continued working on my poster. Even though I felt slightly tired, I was surprisingly more focused and managed to complete a lot of tasks that evening. I felt that this might be related to a short fasting state, where the body begins to rely on stored energy, allowing me to stay alert despite feeling physically tired.

In the third week, the semester became much busier, starting with our Meet & Greet program. I was involved in several tasks such as taking photos, preparing live updates, and conducting short interviews. The workload required constant movement and focus, and it felt like a real test of my time management and commitment. Although tiring, the experience helped me develop practical skills in communication and teamwork.

That same week, I stayed up all night because I had another program to prepare for, along with group and individual assignments that needed to be started. I worked on planning the poster design, dividing tasks among my group members, and designing an infographic for an individual assignment. Around 3:00 a.m., I started to feel hungry, so I bought instant noodles and coffee from 7-Eleven to keep myself awake. The caffeine helped stimulate my alertness, while the quick carbohydrates from the noodles provided short-term energy, allowing me to continue working.

Later, I was also on duty for an IKSAS interview session as a photographer and videographer even though I was fasting. I took photos and videos and prepared live updates for social media. By the end of the day, I felt physically exhausted, yet mentally focused. I believe fasting plays a role in this, as the body may shift its energy use and increase alertness, helping me stay concentrated despite the long hours and heavy workload.

In the fourth week, I realized that I spent quite a lot of money on food and desserts, mostly because of frequent cravings. I went to Ayam Gepuk Artisan since I was really craving ayam gepuk, and I ended up eating a large portion of rice because I had skipped breakfast earlier that day. I also visited Douglas and ordered mashed potatoes, wedges, chicken chop, and Thai tea. Overall, my meals that week were high in carbohydrates but lower in fiber and protein, which may explain why my energy levels felt inconsistent. I believe that when consuming a large amount of carbohydrates, it will cause a rapid increase in blood glucose, followed by a drop that affects focus and alertness.

Despite the busy days, there were also calm moments. One evening after class, I noticed a beautiful sunset and took some photos and videos of it. Watching the sunset made me feel peaceful and emotionally refreshed. Taking time to appreciate nature helped me relax and clear my mind, balancing out the stress from daily academic responsibilities.

At the end of the week, I attended a forum related to academics and politics. Unfortunately, I was not very focused during the session because I experienced a food coma after eating too much for breakfast. The heavy meal likely diverted energy toward digestion, making me feel sleepy and less attentive. This experience reminded me of how eating habits can directly influence concentration and academic engagement.

In the fifth week, I consciously tried to balance my diet again by consuming carbohydrates, protein, and fiber in more suitable portions while also reducing my sugar intake. Throughout the week, my meals mainly consisted of fried chicken, a small portion of rice, vegetables, and fried tempeh. This change made me more aware of how food affects my daily energy. Combining protein and fiber with carbohydrates helps slow down glucose absorption, allowing for more stable energy levels throughout my day.

Along with improving my diet, I also started doing brisk walking with my friends in the evenings. These walks helped me stay active and release stress after long days of classes and commitments. Light physical activity also supported my body’s adjustment to the new eating pattern by improving circulation and overall stamina.

At the same time, the week was filled with IKSAS activities. I attended an exco meeting where we introduced ourselves, discussed our exco’s responsibilities, and ended the session with some bonding time. Over the weekend, I joined a program called Bonding With IKSAS, which allowed me to get to know other exco members. Although the week was tiring for me, it felt meaningful as my body slowly adapted to a new diet and I became more disciplined in managing both my health and responsibilities.

In the sixth week, I was still heavily involved with IKSAS work, especially in managing the photoshoot sessions for all IKSAS members. The photoshoot was conducted over four days, and it was physically and mentally exhausting. As a photographer, I had to stay alert and prepared for any obstacles that might occur, such as low camera battery, sudden weather changes, and technical issues. The long hours required consistent focus and energy, making the week feel especially demanding.

During the same week, I also took a muscle and body mass test. The results showed that most of my fat distribution was concentrated around my abdominal area, while my muscle mass was still within the normal range. I have read that the fat stores in the abdominal region is often linked to energy balance and hormonal regulation. This result made me more aware of my body condition and motivated me to pay closer attention to my lifestyle choices, especially diet and physical activity, in the coming weeks.

In the eighth week, I continued my involvement in IKSAS through a program called Watikah Pelantikan IKSAS. I took on the responsibility of being both the photographer and videographer for the event. Even though I was still exhausted after the camp, I reminded myself to stay committed and carry out my responsibilities seriously. Managing my energy during this week was challenging, but it reinforced the importance of discipline and accountability in both academic and co-curricular life.

During the same week, I also attended Majlis Anugerah Dekan. Seeing the achievements of other students motivated me to pursue my degree with greater determination and strive to become a better student. The event created a positive academic atmosphere, although there were small food and drink stalls available. After cutting sugar for an entire week, I found myself strongly craving desserts and sweet drinks. By the end of the week, I noticed that my weight had increased by about 3 kg. This is due to sudden sugar intake after restriction can affect energy storage and water retention, which may explain the rapid weight change.

Amid the busy schedule, I made time to video call my family in Sabah. I especially missed my younger brother, and we spent hours talking about my degree life, even though he did not fully understand what I was saying. That conversation brought me comfort and emotional relief, reminding me that family support plays an important role in maintaining motivation and mental well-being during a demanding semester.

Throughout the week, my meals included fried rice, chicken curry, omelette, potato soup, mashed potatoes, and wedges. As a result, I often experienced food coma, especially after heavier meals. Actually, when consume large amounts of carbohydrates, it can cause a rapid rise in blood glucose, followed by increased insulin activity, which may lead to feelings of sleepiness and reduced concentration.

Despite the sluggishness, the week also had enjoyable moments. I had the opportunity to hang out with my old friends from matriculation, which I truly appreciated. We went to NU Sentral, where we spent time buying essentials and clothes, and later went to karaoke. Being able to catch up, share stories, gossip, and update each other about our lives made me genuinely happy. That time with friends helped balance out the physical tiredness and lifted my mood throughout the week.

In the tenth week, it felt like the beginning of my most draining phase of the semester. I noticed a clear drop in my motivation and discipline. I procrastinated frequently, which caused me to rush and complete my work at the last minute. Mentally, I felt stuck and unproductive, even though I was aware that my workload was piling up.

To regain some motivation, I often went to Momoyo to change my environment and push myself to work, usually with the help of milk tea. The sugar and caffeine gave me a temporary boost in energy and mood, making it easier to focus for a short period. This quick energy comes from increased glucose and stimulation of the nervous system, but it does not last long.

Most of the time, I stayed in my room doing very little, despite having many tasks to complete. This contrast between knowing what needed to be done and struggling to act on it was frustrating. Looking back, this week showed how mental fatigue can affect productivity just as much as physical exhaustion.

In the eleventh week, the feeling of being unproductive continued. I also noticed a change in my appetite, where I no longer felt interested in a variety of foods and instead kept choosing the same menu, which was chicken chop. This repetitive eating pattern made me realize how my mental state might be influencing my appetite. I realised that stress and low mood can affect hormones related to hunger and satiety, which may explain why my food choices became more limited.

During the week, I attended an event called Frekuensi to support my friend Yong, who participated in a singing competition. Watching him perform was refreshing and gave me a brief emotional boost amid the routine days. It reminded me of the importance of taking breaks and finding small moments of enjoyment.

Apart from that, my days followed a very repetitive routine. I attended classes, completed my homework, and then went back to rest. While the routine helped me stay on track academically, the week overall felt slow and monotonous, reflecting the ongoing mental fatigue I was experiencing.

Me and my teammates stayed up late at the library to finish our Explore project, going back and forth with discussions and slides. After long hours of studying, we made sure to eat properly to keep our energy up. The meals had carbs like rice for quick energy, protein from chicken to help with recovery, and vegetables that added fiber for better digestion. We also treated ourselves to sweet desserts like cendol durian, the sugar gave us a fast energy boost and really helped after a long, tiring day. Even though the week was hectic, good food and friends made it much more manageable.

Dr. Shakinaz taught us the step-by-step process of creating a storybook using Gemini as a creative tool. First, we used NotebookLM to generate and organize the main materials and content for the story, such as the storyline, key ideas, and important details. After that, we used ChatGPT to help create clear and detailed prompts, which were then given to Gemini to develop and produce the final version of the storybook. This process helped us understand how different AI tools can work together to support creativity and structured storytelling.

After using these materials, I noticed that he became more excited and engaged during the lessons. I started by asking ChatGPT for suggestions on the important elements that should be included in a science-related logo, such as symbols, colors, and overall theme. After gathering these ideas, I created my own prompt based on the concept and style I wanted for the logo. Using this prompt, I designed the logo and refined it to match the purpose of the organization.

In the twelfth week, I finally felt my motivation and productivity return. Much of this change was thanks to my friends, who gave me advice and constant encouragement to stay positive throughout the semester. Their support helped me regain confidence and momentum. We spent some time together and had dinner at The Chicken Rice Shop, which felt comforting and rewarding after the emotionally draining weeks before.

The next day, RA and I went to Block 1, FSM to interview a student who had practiced intermittent fasting. The interview was conducted to gather input for our Explorate project. Listening to real experiences helped me better understand how lifestyle choices can affect daily energy and focus.

In the thirteenth week, it was time to “heat up my engine” and push myself to complete all remaining assignments efficiently and carefully. I shifted back into a night-owl routine to keep up with the workload and regain my academic momentum. Staying up late required strong mental focus, and from a simple biochemistry perspective, this meant relying more on sustained energy and alertness as my body adjusted its sleep–wake rhythm.

Amid the busy schedule, my roommate and I took time to celebrate the New Year by having dinner together. That night was filled with laughter and meaningful conversations as we shared stories and reflected on our experiences. The short break helped refresh my mood and reduced stress, making it easier to stay motivated afterward.

At the same time, I continued to fulfill my responsibilities in IKSAS. I attended meetings and worked on poster designs, balancing both academic deadlines and co-curricular commitments. Although the week was demanding, I felt more in control and determined, showing that discipline and support from those around me can make even the busiest weeks manageable.
