We’ve had another lovely sunny week in Reception!

The children learned about Ireland, Northern Ireland and St Patrick’s Day, and later explored how Muslims celebrate Eid.

One of our parents kindly volunteered to talk about Ramadan and Eid, giving the children a first-hand insight into the celebrations. They also discovered that dates are often eaten to break the fast and enjoyed trying some themselves.

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays 

Year 1 and Year 2 have begun creating their Tudor houses using clay. It has been both challenging and exciting! The children were thrilled to learn how to mould, roll and carve the clay.

Next week, we will be painting our creations and we can’t wait to take them home and share them with you!

Year 3 and 4 have spent the week innovating their own stories set in the Amazon Rainforest.

Throughout the week, the children have been developing their use of descriptive language, adverbs, and speech to make their writing more engaging.

Both year groups have enjoyed our Amazon Rainforest topic and have shown great enthusiasm in bringing their ideas to life.

Last Tuesday, we enjoyed a special screening of Paddington in Peru at the Odeon, thanks to Into Film’s education programme.

To kick off the morning, the children took part in a Canva Live quiz, learning all about Peru. When we returned to school, we explored the work of the South American artist Joaquín Torres García and studied how he blended ancient symbols with bold, modern shapes.

Inspired by his style, the children created their own bright and geometric artworks, combining Inca motifs with Paddington-themed symbols such as his iconic hat and marmalade jar.

Summer term begins - All children are back to school today

The choir proudly represented Sandfield at the Surrey Primary Schools Singing Festival on Tuesday at G Live, performing alongside nine other schools in a wonderful celebration of music.

They sang a varied programme featuring songs from different eras and countries, showcasing their ability to sing confidently in parts and in harmony. The choir’s hard work was clear in their wonderful performance, they sang beautifully throughout.

Mrs Davey was extremely proud of all the children for their enthusiasm and performance skills on such a special occasion.

Year 6 Football Team Remains Unbeaten!

A huge well done to our fantastic Year 6 football team, who took part in the Guildford Schools Football Competition on Thursday 12th March 2026.

Despite the challenging weather, with strong winds and rain, the team stayed focused and committed to their game plan. Their determination showed through excellent defensive play and consistent efforts to push into the opposition’s third. Outstanding teamwork was on display throughout, with every player maintaining their position and using the space on the pitch effectively. We also witnessed some brilliant saves and impressive attacking runs, making each match exciting to watch.

Thank you to all the families who came along to cheer on the team and to Mrs Payne for her support at the event. We are incredibly proud of the team’s hard work, effort, and sportsmanship. Great job, Year 6!
