Each district has their own way of living by what their district’s feature is. For example, each district has their own industry. In district twelve mining coal is their Industry. It’s important because without coal the districts and the capital won’t have electricity. This is where Katniss and Peeta are from. In district 11 their agricultural importance is gardening (Page 288). This is important because without agriculture they wouldn't have any food. This is where Rue and Thresh lived. Rue was one of Katniss’s companions in the games. Thresh saved Katniss’ life. The avoxes are like the capitol’s slaves. They are prisoners that have had their tongue cut out (Page #77). Katniss recognizes this same avox throughout the story because the capitol is reminding Katniss that she broke a rule because she went into the forest with Gale. The hob is a place where the people in district 12 go to buy rare and some illegal items. Each district has something special about it.

The game makers have made the hunger games challenging by putting in things that they wouldn’t expect. They don’t have much art and music or math and science. But they have some education for example, when the hunger games are on, there isn’t school because everybody is required to watch the hunger games. The Tracker Jackers are deadly insects that with nine bites of their venom you would be dead (Chapters 14 - 16). Katniss uses them to wipe out some of the careers, but she gets herself stung too. They were one of the capitol’s inventions. The Mutts were another one of the capitol’s mutants, but the mutts looked like the tributes that have died already. They did this to remind the living tributes of what they have done and maybe make them lose because of sidetracking (Chapters 25 - 26). They looked a little bit like wolves. They came after the last three tributes. The Game makers sent the mutts to sidetrack the tributes. The game makers have a big role in the games, always changing the rules adn they are in charge.

There are many ways, and things people do in the districts. In district twelve they have different ways of living from the other districts. In that district their lifestyle is mining coal and hunting . Katniss was a hunter her whole life and other people in district twelve were practicing to be in the Hunger Games there whole lives. Katniss is comfortable using a bow because her father crafted it (P.5). People in the districts have so many different ways of entertaining themselves but, when it comes to entertainment they watch the Hunger Games while the tributes fight. Some districts track the people who live in the district. People from the capitol entertain themselves by watching the tributes fight. For slaves the capitol Avoxes for slaves. Why, because the capitol doesn't believe that the Avoxes should be treated like they didn't do anything.

Religious Influences- Lizbeth

In the districts they don’t worry much about their religion because the capitol wants them to care more about them then they do God. God would sidetrack them. People have different beliefs but, mostly some people don't believe in anything. A belief that Katniss does is when she buries Rue. The cool thing is that she leaves the spear in rue's stomach to show the audience and the capitol that she cares greatly about rue. She also puts flowers on Rue's body, not dirt. She put little effort into this act but it made a big difference, and showed how much she loves Rue. (P. 236-267). When Rue died Katniss buried Rue because that's what Katniss believes is right. In the Hunger Games they don't have any holy books. They don't any importance on societal interaction. They don't have conversion or role of missionaries.

In the book the Hunger Games political influences is the main one in charge. In the book the one main war was the dark days. (Page 344) The dark days were when the districts had a rebellion against the capital. The hunger games were created because of this war. An example of a court/law is an Avox. An Avox is a person who has committed a crime. If that person gets caught, the capital will cut out their tongues and make them work almost like a slave. (Page 77) In this book President Snow is there leader. The districts are loyal to the leaders by giving them what they want. There is no popular participation in this book. Their structure is by separating the people into districts. A treaty that happened was when Katniss and Peeta were going to eat the berries so that there would have been no winner. (Page 344) They were going to eat the berries because they had feelings for each other and Katniss didnt want have to kill Peeta.

The book the Hunger Games is located in North America. (Page 18) The people walk, run, etc to get to places. The capital will use hovercrafts to get from district to district. The environment depends on the district. District twelve is very poor and has coal mines all over. The capital is very wealthy and has a lot of people, buildings and technology. The physical part depends on the district's.
