The Cambodian Currency is the Riel. One U.S. dollar is 4055.34 Riel. Many people believe that the name of the currency comes from the Mekong riverfish, the riel ("small fish" in Khmer). It is more likely that the name comes from the high Mexican Reel. On entering Cambodia I headed straight towards an ATM trade machine. I put in American money (dollars) and got Cambodian money back out! (riel)

I am staying in a hotel in the capital, Phnom Penh. I constantly wake to the sound of morning traffic as people make their way to their jobs. Unfortunately when out side, instead of hearing people laughing and talking, you hear constant notification sounds from all around you... but you get used to it. Here in Cambodia they speak Khmer, to people who have mainly just heard English their whole lives, it sounds really cool and interesting!
