To address the perception that "no one cares" and move faculty from compliance to engagement, one school sends a follow up email message each time a faculty member submits the syllabus. The note references something positive in the syllabus and also links to areas of improvement, in an encouraging way. Faculty can follow up for additional coaching, if desired. It's labor intensive but gives ideas about who needs more support. CENTER FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE. CURRICULUM.

The problem is that if someone copies the highlighted part and pastes it into a document, they can remove the highlighting and see the PII.

Southeast CC in Nebraska asks student affairs departments to develop assessment plans, and guides them through it via a professional development series. The Assessment Staff realized that the student affairs professionals are not necessarily assessment experts. They tried manuals, emails, and none of it worked. In addition, they are very busy. Therefore, the Assessment team decided to 1) integrate strategic planning and change management techniques with assessment activity and 2) develop modules presented to the various teams.

The plan has 9 modules that lead to development of an assessment plan. The first 6 modules are most important, and they spend two months on each module: one month to learn and one month to implement.

Ultimately, each dept established one outcome and a plan for how they would assess it. They then present their plans to the Student Affairs group.
