Standardisation involves gaining common understanding of how we evaluate criteria levels. In MYP we review samples of students work against criteria, identify key aspects of work that support awarded levels and then discuss to clarify. Task-specific clarifications can help and often are developed through the process of standardisation

Criteria levels are NOT equivalent to A,B,C,D, related percentage or normative rankings of students. Criteria level descriptors reflect characteristics of student work that we have observed after explicitly taught and formatively guided students. Criteria levels are grade specific with guides specifying G6, G8 & G10 descriptors. In many cases, we choose to use these for the grade below (e.g. G8 for G7, G10 for G9) but this does vary in our SWA Dept.s

Self study is not synonymous with performance appraisal. Performance appraisal is a regular review of an employee's performance related to the tasks assigned to him. Self study is about reflecting on the tasks assigned and how to improve this even further the time we do the same tasks again.
