The meaning of the theme is that you have to look past whats on the outside and look whats on the inside. Jack looked past Auggies face and saw his true personality. The main characters are Auggie,Mom, Dad,Jack,Via,Mr. Tushman, Julian,Summer, Charolite. The settings are home and school. The initial conflict of the novel is Auggie's deformity. Everyone was scared of Auggie when they first saw him. The rising action towards the climax is Jack punching Julian,Jack and Auggie's relationship also has a shift. Julian couldn't go on the trip because all the mean letters and pictures he sent to Auggie. The shift or climax of the novel is that Auggie gets into a fight at the nature retreat and defends himself with the help of friends and becomes popular and makes friends. The falling action of the novel is that Auggie makes friends. He also went to Mr. Tushmans office to talk about what happened at the nature retreat. After everything fell into place Auggie won the Henry ward Beecher medal. He also had a shift in his popularity,he made friends. I would rate it that because the novel is very boring. The novel is about a kid that goes to school. Nothing exiting happens and in the novel they explain the same thing happening over and over.
