Write your summary here: This chapter is about a woman that wants to know the reason of the death of her sister. The chapter begins with the visit of Mrs. Helen Stonner to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. She says she is terrified and that needs their help to solve the mystery of her sister's death. Helen   tells them that she has a stepfather called Grimesby Roylott, Sherlock tells her that he knows who he is. Then Helen tellls them how the night her sister died was, she mentions something her sister said before dying called the speckled band and she also mentions that the doctor never discovered the cause of her sister's death, After explaining that she goes to where she lives: Stoke Moran. After a few moments Dr. Roylott appears and Threatens them. Then they go to Helen's house and make a plan to discover the truth. A few moments later they execute the plan and everything went as expected. At the end they discover that the speckled band was a snake so that was the reason because the doctor never detected the reason of the death of Helen's sister, and unfortenately Dr. Roylott dies because Sherlock while he was investigating accidentally he hit it without knowing; making the snake to rage and bite the first person it saw. He arrives pale, then he enters and sits down with Sherlock and Watson to tell them about his case. He tells the story of his uncle and a little bit of his father. He tells them that his father and uncle were rich because his father had a bicycle tire business, and his uncle a plantation in Florida. He also tells them that his uncle participated in the american civil, that he became a colonel, and that when the war ended he returned to his plantation. However he says that his uncle suddenly returned to England and went to live in Horsham. As his uncle didn't have friends he started to drink alcohol and he always had a bad temper. John tells Sherlock that when he was 12 years old he went to live with his uncle. 5 years later when he was 17 years old his uncle received a letter and shouted "My god, this is my punishment" then Elias, John's uncle, asked him to call a lawyer. When the lawyer arrived John's uncle asked him to witness his will. then he told him that his money and properties will be left to his father when he died, but he said that he knew that his father would give them to John one day. Elias said John that if the money brought him trouble not keep it, finally The uncle asked him to sign his will.

He says that after that day his uncle began drinking more and more, and also he went to walk alone hours and hours all nights until one night. John says that in that night his uncle never returned, then in the morning he found him next to a lake, his face was on the water and he was death. Police said that it was a suicide because there were no marks on him. John tells Sherlock and Watson that he thinks that it was not a suicide because Elias Openshaw, John's uncle, was afraid of death. Then Holmes asks John to tell the exact day when his uncle received the envelope, John says that in March 18th of the year 1883, the Holmes asks "When did your uncle died?" John says 7 weeks later on 2nd may. Holmes asks John to continue, and John continues. John tells that his father inherited his uncle's money and property, then his father went to live to Horsham. One day in the attic they find the box with te letters K.K.K on the lid, and his uncle diaries. All the diaries were about his uncle's life in America. Almost 2 years later something unusual happened. John tells that on breakfast his father received a letter there were 5 orange pips in there and 3 K.K.K's. His father showed that to John, he was terrified. There was a message to it said "Put the papers in the sundial" His father got confused and John explained him. His father says John that it might be a stupid joke but John tells him that it might be better to call the police. His father asks John from where was the letter sent, John answers that it was from Dundee in Scotland. John kept insisting to call the police. John's father said no and John didn't argue but he was very unhappy of the situation. 2 days later while his father was visiting a friend John received a Telegram of his father's friend. It said "Come immediately! Your father fell from his horse and he is badly hurt" After a few days he died, police thought it was an accident  but he says that he is sure that not. Then he tells Sherlock that he inherited his father's money and properties and he also tells him that he had a great life in Horsham by 2 years until he thought that his family "curse" ended with his father but 2 days before going to Sherlock's house a letter arrived to his house it had 5 orange pips. He showed it to Sherlock. It had a message to "Put the papers on the sundial" Sherlock asks John if he told the police John answers "Yes they think the letters are a joke. They believe that the deaths of my uncle and my father were accidents. They don't think am in danger" John tells him that they are not right and that they don't have to much time.
3.Write your summary here: This chapter starts with Holmes giving the paper to John Openshaw, telling him that they didn't had enough time, and telling him to accomplish the instructions in the paper. later Holmes explains Watson what the K.K.K's mean. He says that Elias Openshaw, John's uncle, had a good life in America but he returned to Horsham because he was afraid. Sherlock explains Watson that they have to hurry because the writer of the letter was in London. Then Sherlock shows Watson what the K.K.K's really mean "The Klu Klux Klan"
