• Is a book of the Swiss humanitarian henri dunant published in 1862.

• It proved decisive in the founding of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

First Idea :

• To create in each country an organization of trained volunteers, ready to assist the wounded in war.

Second Idea :

• To promote an international agreement protecting the wounded soldiers in the battlefield & those who care for them.

2.) 1899 - Gives protection to the wounded , sick , & shipwrecked members.

3.) 1929 - Protection to those imprisoned during the war

4.) 1949 - Protection to civilian persons in times of war.

International Humanitarian Law
