In my opinion, kids can participate in our democracy, because they can even make a change in it. According to, ¨See How They Run¨, it says that some group of kids wanted the ladybug to be Massachusetts state bug. The group of kids gave a speech about ladybugs being found all over their state, and eventually they got their bill approved, and the governor signing a law that said the ladybug was Massachusetts state bug. You can see that, if kids put our/their mind to it, we can change the law, no matter the age or size. Another example is, when Shadia Wood learned about the Superfund bill. She now knew that it would clean up some of New York´s most toxic sites. She tried to convince lawmakers, along with a group called, Kids Against Pollution, by sitting on the steps of the state capitol, selling lemonade and selling what she called,¨toxic dump cake¨. Later on, in 2003, the Superfund bill became the law. In the other text, ¨The Birth of the Constitution¨, states that the legislative branch creates laws, which might help you if you disagree with one law, and you can write to them. The executive branch creates laws, if you provide the right funds, you can eventually make a new law, which would make a great difference. In the judicial branch, it settles disputes, or disagreements, about laws. Not all people might agree with the change, so they will have to settle the disagreements. Still, kids can make a change, especially in democracy.

They can also do speeches to the lawmakers to tell them WHAT THEY WANT. In all they can be useful. In the article "See How They Run" a 7 year old was worried about how much pollution and toxic thier was, so she did a lemonade stand on government stands. In her lemonade stand she made a toxic dump cake to prove a point on how much toxic thier was ( and no it did not have actual toxic.) In the article "The Birth of American Democracy" kids can run in this paragraph if you or a sibling is 18 then you could vote for a president.

In the text "The Birth of American Democracy" and "See How They Run" it explains that voting is an important part of a good government and that you should keep bugging your parents and if your lucky you might be able to pull it off. In the passage "See How They Run" kids also made it possible to make new laws and they show you an example they made the ladybug Massachusetts state bug. In passage "The Birth of American Democracy" it said that five men were working on writing the Declaration of Independence and among those men were Ben Franklin,John Adams,Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington
(i don't know the other ones name).A young delegate person named James Madison proposed ideas he even compromised with people. They also wanted a better government because they didn't want one branch to have too much power. In September 1787 the Constitution was approved but the Declaration of independence was not completely right so they also wrote the Bill of Rights in with allows you to say what you believe and to belief what you believe.
