I think people would have different opinions about a new invention because if you were to be happy, then that is because that invention would do something helpful to them. If you were to be mad/sad then that is because maybe that invention may not help you or support you. Sometimes it could be unsafe. We can infer that the public felt very scared about an unknown idea that has never been tried before. Not everybody thought that aviation was the salvation for civilization according to the blue paper.

I infer that the public felt terrible about the flight which is the new invention at that time. When the citizens had to look up into the sky, it could have also been uncomfortable. Pilots were frustrated to steer. They had to steer the airplane and control the airplane so that the passenger had to be safe in the landing, in mid-air, and when the airplane takes off. If the airplane crashed then the passengers could be hurt or even, be killed. The pilot could be in danger because they could also crash in mid-air. This could make the passengers all afraid of the new invention: flight. Even the passengers could have rode a horse-drawn carriage just to be safe. Maybe, the pilot could just softly land often so they don't crash at a high speed.

I can infer that the public felt scared, as well as excited.
The people felt scared, because many of the planes failed, and lots of people died. If I were alive back then, then I certainly would have been scared. Also, some people have never been on a plane, so they must have felt too scared to even get on.
The people also felt exited. They must have felt excited because it is something new. Usually, when I get or see something new, I get super exited to use it.

i would agree that you should be VERY careful because it is a new invention and you can't trust that much things or inventions and mostly if it is something that uses your whole body. so i would be VERY CAREFUL
