Between the 60s and 90s, bloody attacks with bombs placed by anger (Iris Repubblicano Arma) and violent reprisals by the British army, in a hellish "back and forth" mechanism that claimed hundreds of victims and made it difficult tourism development of this beautiful region. It was just the day before yesterday, and hearing about attacks today is really creepy ...
Only after the signing of the "GOOD FRIDAY AGREEMENT" ("the Good Friday Agreement") by the British and Irish governments on 10 April 1998 did the peace process begin and Northern Ireland - albeit between a thousand difficulties - began to look forward ...
And it is precisely that her gaze pointed straight ahead that makes her so special; the desire for peace that you breathe in the air together with the scent of the sea and the heath; the confident smile of the people who still carry a shadow of pain in their hearts, to which they no longer want to listen.
NORTHERN Ireland is beautiful and waiting to be discovered; its spectacular territory; its traditions and ancient legends more alive than ever; the cities that still show their wounds, but also the serene will to turn the page and go towards the future.
Will that I sincerely hope will not be undermined by the turmoil raised by the outcome of BREXIT.

Ireland represents the nation with the most local traditions still practiced today. This people deserves to be known thanks to the most original Irish festivals and traditions, some more historical, others peculiar. St. Patrick's DaySt. Patrick's day, the patron saint of Ireland, is celebrated on 17 March. On that day the green color invades the cities, the people are celebrating with lots of beer and traditional music. But let's make a brief description of the most celebrated holiday in Ireland.

The Palace of Westminster, better known as the Houses of Parliament and the famous Big Ben are the symbol of London and its history. London residence of the king until 1512, the palace then became the seat of the two houses of power of the United Kingdom (the House of Lords and the House of Commons). The palace is fully included among the 10 things to see absolutely in London. Built in the eleventh century at the behest of Edward the Confessor, it was destroyed in 1834 by a fire that saved the Great Hall erected in 1097, the cloisters and crypt of St. Stephen's Chapel and the fourteenth-century Jewel Tower. The current Victorian Gothic building was designed and built by architects C. Barry and A. W. Pugin. The first stone was laid in 1840. It took 30 years to complete the grandiose work: more than 1000 rooms spread over four floors, over 3 km. of corridors, 11 courtyards, 100 stairways and a honey-colored facade of almost 300 m. facing the Thames, punctuated by spiers and decorated with the statues of the regents. Three towers mark its profile, helping to give the building an almost fairytale-like appearance. As with Westminster Abbey, Unesco also declared the Victorian building a World Heritage Site in 1987.

On the first floor of the building are the main rooms including the bedrooms, lobbies and libraries. The south side is reserved for the House of Lords decorated with stained glass windows, carvings, gilding and frescoes. In the hall there are the red leather seats, the throne on which the Sovereign sits during the opening ceremony of Parliament and the woolsack, the seat of the Lord Chancellor that recalls the wool sacks on which the king's advisers once sat. On the other hand, the House of Commons is more sober, located at the north end of the building, covered in green. In the center of the room is the chair of the Speaker, the president, whose task is to moderate the debate between the Government (who sits on the left) and the Opposition (who occupies the benches on the right). The members of the aforementioned chamber face each other "head-on" but cannot cross the two red lines drawn on the carpet of the hall, which are spaced from each other by the length of two unsheathed swords.

The imposing dimensions of the room make it one of the largest halls in Europe, the 14th-century oak-trussed ceiling can be considered one of the most beautiful wooden ceilings of all time. Throughout history, Westminster Hall has had various functions: in the Middle Ages it hosted royal banquets and competitions, from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century it was used as a courtroom, today it is used by the two Chambers for ceremonial speeches to the Crown and as a mortuary of members of the royal family.

The fame of the palace is also due to its towers.

The tallest is the quadrangular Victoria Tower, built to house the Parliamentary archives. A flag bearer is placed on the top: if you see the Union flag waving then it means that Parliament is in session. The lowest of the three is the Central Tower with an octagonal spire. The most famous is certainly the Clock Tower, better known as Big Ben, from the name of the resonant bell of 14 tons, which in turn owes its name to Sir Benjamin Hall, the main commissioner of the works when it was inaugurated.

Since May 31, 1859, its tolls mark the hours in London and are broadcast every day by the BBC. The other 4 smaller bells strike the quarter of an hour instead. Big Ben is the largest clock tower in Great Britain: on each side of the tower there is a quadrant 7.5 meters in diameter, the hour hand is almost 3 meters, the minute hand over 4 meters. If the Parliament is sitting at night the tip of the tower is illuminated.

Fish and Chips is one of the best known and most representative dishes of English cuisine: a street food served on every street corner throughout the United Kingdom. We cannot therefore omit it from the English specialties to taste. A dish that combines a second dish of fish, generally cod fillets, prepared in a batter of flour and beer, served with a side of chips, that is, French fries cut into sticks. All accompanied with delicious sauces, such as tartar sauce, made with mayonnaise, gherkins, parsley, chives or onion and capers. For the preparation of Fish and Chips, in addition to "cod", that is cod, you can also choose between "haddock", an Atlantic fish similar to cod, or "plaice", plaice. The batter can also be prepared with just water and flour, perhaps with the addition of a pinch of baking soda, to make it lighter.

Christian Palumbo

It was opened to the public on 1 February 2013. This wheel is supported by connecting bars that make it look like a large bicycle wheel: it is in fact represented in an advertising poster of a charity bicycle race The London Eye has become the most popular paid attraction in the UK, with around 3.5 million visitors a year. In addition, every New Year's Eve, at the stroke of midnight, the traditional fireworks of the British capital are fired from the wheel. On June 5, 2008, it was announced that 30 million visitors would be reached.

Breakfast is the main meal for Brits, while lunch is usually quite quick and involves only a snack. The full English Breakfast is served in all cafes or pubs open in the morning. It is a very ancient tradition, which allows you to start the day with energy: it includes scrambled or fried eggs, crispy bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, pork sausages and baked beans (beans in tomato sauce), even if it is It is possible to add other dishes to the menu, such as french fries, hash browns, or bubble and squeak, potato and vegetable pancakes, in addition to the English muffin, a leavened bread, and porridge, a very nutritious oatmeal . The more traditionalists, then, cannot fail to consume black pudding for breakfast, a black pudding stuffed with pork blood and fat, oatmeal and aromatic herbs. All this is accompanied by toast to be buttered, a hot drink, especially black tea, or a fruit juice. English breakfast therefore begins with strong flavors and lots of calories. However, it is a ritual that is increasingly reserved for Sunday, the day in which the Full English Breakfast represents a real meal, capable of giving energy until the evening.

Christian Palumbo

With its few houses, a few pubs and a post office, the town itself does not offer great attractions, while the railway station is of some interest. Here, in fact, many visitors stop to take a photo next to the incredible sign bearing this unpronounceable name. Its meaning derives from Welsh and can be translated as: "Church of Santa Maria in the basin of the white hazel, near the rapid whirls of Llantysilio of the red cave". The station sign features the 58-letter name spelled phonetically for ease of pronunciation.
