"In 2007, Cherry retired and moved to LA to pursue a career in entertainment landing work initially as a production assistant for commercials and music videos before transitioning to being a Set PA for the final season of the hit CW TV series Girlfriends and the third season of Heroes for NBC" (Matthew).

After learning on set behind the scenes, Cherry started directing music videos for numerous  different artist. He also started to direct live action short films.

The film “The Last Fall” is loosely based on the difficulties Cherry’s experienced after he retired from the NFL and attempted to transition back into the real world. it received awards at the American Black Film Festival. 

Cherry has also been featured on many television shows, such as, "Abbott Elementary" and "Black-ish."
