But he is getting them in trouble just for being near him, at least his family got to see him and hangout with him before he got arrested. I wonder if he stole that car or if he was wanted or something and that's why he was arrested. How come no one was crying or surprised he was going? Instead they waved goodbye. But it also seems like Mango Street itself is a home and community where almost everyone knows everyone. But it does seem like for this Old Woman she isn’t taking responsibility for her children and expects the neighborhood to do it for her. Which resulted in one of her children dying doing something very stupid without her parents' vision. I’m sure this shows Esperanza of how not to raise her future children and how lucky she is to have her parents. It also shows how it isn’t easy for everyone on Mango Street and how they are all dealing with their own problems. Walking through the streets was a different scene for the girls, every man they passed had something to say about their shoes and them themselves. In the book the author showed how the girls felt uncomfortable and creeped out after hearing what they were saying, at first the girls loved the compliments and thought the guys were being nice but after the guys kept going they could tell they were being way too nice and then they wanted a kiss. This scared the girls off and was a sign for them to get out of there as fast as possible. Esperanza had a lot of fun with Rachel and Lucy though, they bought a bike together and spent some time that day riding it together. Esperanza made some new friends that day and got a new bike. Esperanza had a positive experience with these girls, they showed her it's okay to share and still be able to enjoy the object or item. She’s always moving and running. Although she’s a sweet lady she doesn’t trust many people and she is always wondering when something will go wrong. This makes it hard for her to enjoy life on Mango Street. But Cathy has Esperanza as her friend now so maybe that will keep her around. This shows Esperanza that making friends sometimes is hard but with enough effort and strength and determination anything is possible. Cathy and Esperanza are different in many ways but that doesn't mean they can't be friends or get along in some way or have things in common.

While she sees each person on Mango Street and gets to know them she learns something new from each one of them. Towards the end of the book with all the experiences she went through it brought her in her own direction and into the feeling of knowing where she belongs. Throughout the story I can also see that most of the characters don't feel like they belong anywhere and they are also trying to find their place, everyone on Mango Street is growing up so they are all getting a feel for the world around them but this is where the adults come in because they either show the kids what to look up to or what to avoid in the types of things that they want to do.
