         <description><![CDATA[<div>the sinking of the Maine, which had been in the Havana since February 15, 1898 on official observation visit, was a climax in the war tension between the united states and Spain in the american press, head lines proclaimed Spanish treachery!'' and was the work of an enemy, ' William Randolph hearts and his new York journal offend a $50,000 award for the detection of the perpetrator of the Maine outrage. ' many Americans assumed the Spanish were responsible for the Maine destruction. at 9:40 pm on the night of 15 February 1898 the united states battle ship Maine, riding quietly at anchor Havana harbor, was suddenly blown up, apparently by a mine in an explosion which tore her bottom out and sank her, killing 260 officers on board. in the morning only twisted parts of the huge worships superstructure could be seen protruding above the water, while small boats moved about examining the damage. the main had been showing the flag in Cuba, where the Spanish regime was resisting and armed uprising by nationalist guerrillas.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

U.S. This court cases defines about the limitation of free speech. Charles Schenck was a socialist party. Schenck was arrested from the Espionage Act of 1917, It obstruct the recruiting or enlistment service. The court decision was that wartime circumstances changed the rules related to the right of free speech, and  it cleared and present danger rule. <br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> My first letter is from solider Pte. Wm. Obrien to his girlfriend Rose. In this letter Pte. Wm Obrien has just join the army and he is with the Wellington second 13th company. In this letter he is writing rose about the places he has travel since he had joined the army. My second letter was written by Bill to his pops after two months of being in the army. In this letter Bill explains to his pops what he does to past the time away. In my last letter Cpl. Jack Comer is writing a letter to his mother to let her know about the attack that his platoon will have to do in a few hours. in this letter the son Jack expresses to his mother that his worries is not about himself but for her and the kids on the rest of his family. This letter from Jack sounds like a remember me letter incase he dies in the attack.</div>]]></description>
