The Love Canal resulted in the relocation of hundreds of families, disrupting their lives and community. The disaster kick-started community activism and led to the Superfund legislation and liability act in 1980. The cleanup and repair of the Love Canal cost around $275 million and left a significant decrease in property value in the area.

For around 20 years after, the site was still considered dangerous and uninhabitable due to lingering chemicals.

The Love Canal incident was addressed through a multi-pronged approach with government intervention, public health initiatives, and the creation of the Superfund program. The state of New York and the federal government started evacuating families, starting with young children and pregnant women, and implementing containment measures in the 1980s. The superfund is in charge of providing funding for cleaning up hazardous waste sites and holding the polluters accountable using the liability act. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) was also now in charge of keeping an eye on all of the other toxic waste sites or chemical dumping grounds in the country and making sure they were not affecting any other counties or neighborhoods.

We solved this problem and prevented it from happening again using anthropocentrism. This disaster caused laws, acts, and a funding project to develop in order to make sure this doesn't happen again to hurt our population or our environment. The discovery of this opened up a new cause for government money to clean up the soil and clear the factory off of the grounds. This also lead to the creation of the liability act which holds factories responsible or things like this which is how part of the problem was solved.

Another event happened similar to this one in Bhopal India, this issue happened in 1984 when the union carbide chemical factory was dumping waste and highly toxic chemicals in to the ground and there was a lek that put it into the air and soil. Kids in Bhopal were born with birth defects, unable to walk, speak, etc. The kids joined together to play a game called cricket on a contaminated field, causing more health issues. While some kids didn't know about the toxic soil they were on daily, other were well aware but continued to play because it was their only field and they couldn't change the soil or fix the issue themselves, so they just had to live with it. This is similar to the Love canal because of the effects on humanity it had but it different because the liability act did not apply. The government and the factory itself refused to clean up the disaster, leaving all of Bhopal sick and in danger.
