         <description><![CDATA[<div>“This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound tracks, cartoons, photographs - to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance”(124).</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I believe the big idea of 1984 is that the consequence of large amounts of governmental control is a group of citizens that are unaware of their own undoing. I chose this quote because it puts into perspective the amount of control that the government in the book has over its citizens and how it is essentially able to alter citizens’ thoughts and memories through controlling all forms of media. It reveals how human thought can be controlled: through the editing of information.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
