Today we got to first learn about global citizenship and research some information on the topic we are about to be spending most of our time working on. I brainstormed and jotted down bullet points from my research shown to the left. After speaking to our Netherlands friends and closing the SDG project up for the day we branched out to a similar activity. Me and my table mates were instructed to find a current event article online. Our current event was just heartbreaking. Students in Nigeria are being kidnapped from their schools and held captive for ransom by different organizations. Because of this, families are hesitant to send their children to school. This led into a group discussion about how we can educate students in our future classroom about what is going on in the real world around us. Me and my partners initially had the wrong idea for creating a unit plan that branched off into different lessons. However, once we were directed I feel we came up with many great ideas and structured them in an organized fashion that can be scene above and to the right.

Today was a much need organization and planning day. We planned out and brainstormed topics sealed to our SDG that we may have interest in making our unit plan about. Our topic was quite broad so there were a million different directions we could have went in. The two organizers shown below are our initial thoughts and first draft. I am feeling stressed and overwhelmed leaving the class today but I think meeting with my partners later this week will be just what we need. I have also been doing my own research as well to come to our meeting with ideas, thoughts, opinions, and questions.

College camp! What a nice break it was to get our of the four walls of a classroom. We explored nature searching for math concepts and working on our SDG projects together as a group. The cool mountain air is just what we needed. I learned a lot about directions, a compass and different ways to incorporate the outdoors into a lesson. I realized the possibilities are endless and almost everything we encountered could have been useful in a math, science, ELA, and even social studies lesson. I hope we get the opportunity to go back to college camp soon :)

Today was another great day to finalize our SDG lesson plans and ask our professor about any last minute questions. We tried to focus on the importance of aligning our lessons and making sure our instructional procedure connect back to the objectives as well as the standards. This was a great opportunity that me and my group jumped at. Before today we didn't have much alignment and "flow". However, I have attached our final unit plan that is in my opinion very cohesive. I am so proud of myself and my group members for completing this project and putting our hard work to the test. It may have been stressful but it was extremely rewarding.

Back at college camp! Today we had a relaxing day of meditative walking. This came just at the right time. We have had many stressful weeks lately that have been becoming overwhelming. That is why I am so grateful to have watched comedy videos and did some meditative walking. We then worked on learning how to use a protractors to create different types of angles. We also too a look at fake money, counting, and coming up with lessons teaching economics/money. I am grateful we were also let out early and got to enjoy the beautiful day. I look forward to squeezing in one more day at college camp if weather permits. What a wonderful day!

We began today's class with some relaxing drawing and play dough activities. This was very satisfying and stress relieving. Play-dough brings me back to when I was younger and got to use play-dough in my first and second grade classrooms. My group chose to use our play-dough to make a geometry/shape activity. I liked having access to the play-dough for the rest of the class because fidgeting helps relieve a lot of my stress and keep me focusing. We then took a look at the expeditionary learning packet and examined a few different activity closer. I choose popcorn reading and vocabulary squares. Today was a pretty nice day. It was also my birthday so I was extra enthusiastic :)

When we first started class we were handed a piece of paper with our feedback from our SDG unit plans. We were able to review our feedback and start thinking about our revisions. We were also told to start brainstorming a mini lesson that will branch off from our lesson plans. My lesson plan was on global citizenship. But one thing I never elaborated on was community and its role in being a global citizen. Therefore, I will be making my lesson based on communities. We then had "2 minutes of nothing". I hope to do more of those in the future, it was so relaxing. After those 2 minutes we worked on analyzing videos of unpacking standards, data utilization and an analysis of a students work. I have attached my notes above. We then talked about the three types of rubrics and which we would prefer to use in our own class room. Out of holistic, analytic, and single point, I personally would prefer to use an analytic rubric because focusing on the criteria one at a time is better for instruction and better for formative assessment because students can see what aspects of their work need what kind of attention.
