Governments may feel the need to suppress or censor out certain content as a way to prevent their communities or countries from gaining and spreading ideas the government may not want in their people and communities. However, movies can sometimes also be beneficial for governments as they may promote patriotism and other such values in their citizens. For example, in the movie "Inglorious Basterds", the Germans were shown to be advocating a movie about a Nazi German soldier who supposedly took down some 200 allied soldier by himself. Governments will often support movies that may have propagandist purposes or promote loyalty to ones country and showing off the country's might, as well as patriotism.

Creators find films more beneficial than harmful. Creators usually use films to express their ideas. This ideas my be fictitious or non-fictitious. Creators can produce films with a message to move peoples heart or create a film purely based on thriller and action. One example of this might be the movie Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix. The movie was directed by Todd Phillips. The movie was expected to be a light hearted supervillain movie that many people grew up watching. However, the actual movie was not for the faint hearted. The movie involved mass killings, mental problems, betrayal and extreme things that people didn’t expect from Batman’s arch rival. The movie’s message was to show how people are misunderstood by society and start doing crazy things, which was the joker. The movie brought about a lot of controversy for involving too much mental issues and violence. The movie was so extreme that the actor Joaquin Phoenix( who played the Joker ) had to undergo therapy after the movie as he had changed so much into the character itself and started experiencing nightmares and was undergoing depression and anxiety. Thus, creators usually feel that movies can used as a platform to display what they feel just like Todd Phillips did. However, consumers may not be able to understand the real meaning and may misinterpret the story and deviate it from the creators original idea.

Most online film platforms such as Netflix do not have strict restrictions for viewing adult content unless parents are supervising their children’s accounts. Hence many children that are not supervised by their parents virtually, do view adult movies and films that are not appropriate for their age out of curiosity.
