I was in the city of Gramado, in Rio Grande do Sul, in the beginning of 2020. Staying a week in this wonderful place was enough to be my favorite place in the world. The city is beautiful, the food is delicious, it feels like I'm in a welcoming city in Europe. The people who live there are nice and kind.
The city is small, but it has a lot of cool places to visit. Christmas attractions are the best things, so I recommend a visit to Gramado around this time, it's all magical. In it I have everything I like to have fun! I have my records, my books, art and sewing supplies. With so many hobbies it's easy to stay at home. I'm used to being at home in quarantine. The difficult thing will be when it's over and I have to spend a lot of time on the street. I really like traveling to Curitiba, but it's because my friends live there. I always visited them, but now it's just video calling. I miss seeing them in person and being able to hug them and have afternoon tea the way only southerners know how to serve.

The city is smal, but amazing! All the people are really welcoming and friendly. The typical food in Minas Gerais is delicious, we went to a fair with soups, cakes, candy and eat all while watching the sunset. It was really beautiful and pleasurable, I will never forget! The best day of our trip was when we went out to visit the most known places in the city. We walk a lot and know several places, like Mario Quintana’s house, libraries and a very cozy restaurant with a delicious food. We also know the Lago Guaíba. It is a very large place, great for walking and cycling. There is a restaurant that has glass floor, so we could see the water right under our feet, beyound the wonderful view of the horizon! But my favorite place was the Iberê Camargo museum. Bike ride on the avenue near that museum was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had in my life.

Before the pandemic, my family and I celebrated the date in a hotel in Colombo-PR. This, without a doubt, is one of my favorite places. It is located in the woods, has a good restaurant and is a very relaxing!
In celebration of the New Year with a prayer. Then yes, let's go a supper!
Chindrem have fun too! They spend the entire afternoon together making flashlights. At night, they  walk with them lit with a candle inside. For them, this moment is exicting!

My favorite celebration of the year is a June party. The June party is a typical festival in the Northeast region, but it occurs in almost all Brazilian regions. It is known for its beautiful lounge decor, with balloons and flags. People dressed in plaid shirt, boots and straw hat. Also famous for the huge dolls, called "Olinda's doll". Another characteristic are the typical foods, based on corn and peanuts, such as “pé de moleque”, “canjica” e “paçoca”, a very famous drink is the “quentão”, made with colonial hot wine. What you can't miss at June party is lots of dancing and good music. The music usually attracts attention, as they play accordion and harmonica, also has the typical dance "quadrilha", dance with a group with several couples. A party that has a lot of joy and laughs.  I miss the June party.

The ceremony was at the Macarana Stadium in August 5, the place was crowded with people of many countries, next to me I remember, that were Mexicans, North Americans, argentians, and Englands. The presentations were very beautiful, very colorful, dances very performing, like a big party. One moment that it was very beautiful, were the catwalk of Gisele Bundchen when "Girl from Ipanema" was playing, the lights of the stadium were off just the highlight of our cellphones were on. The ceremony had shows of Ludmilla, Jorge Ben, Mc Sofia, Marcelo D2, and the last was Anitta, Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso, they sang “Isso aqui o que é” and finished like a huge carnival festival, with samba schools, wonderful costumes and dancers.

Valdomiro was an incredible man. All the memories from him are full of laughs and love. Our family called him Meninão (in English it is like a young boy). He chose this nickname because he considered himself too young. My grandfather loved to share his experiences from all stages of his life. In the last holiday that we spent with him, he taught us precious lessons about life. It was a sunny afternoon, we talked about a lot of things, he asked everyone about job, study, music, and faith. We had no idea that this would be our last date, but it is great to know that we enjoy all the moments together.  
I remember an important tip from him: “In life, things must be like that, slow but never give up”.

A butsudan stay at the house of the oldest son of the family. The first house we visited is my grandfather’s doctor’s house. They had many delicious foods!  My favorite is breaded shrimp! We eat a lot especially my cousins, but Victor has shrimp allergy. He looks the beautiful shrimps in the table and he eat to. At the end we received candies and fruits, my younger cousins received otoshidama (adults give money to kids) too. After we visit Shiroma-san's house, she was a very friendly and kind person. It is disrespectful to decline food that day, so we eat coxinha, pastel and ice cream. When we got home, Victor was scratching a lot, because he eats some shrimp.
