"If the information conveyed by musical compositions can be considered to be gendered, this indicates a belief that gestures and structures employed within a composition possess direct relationships to traits, qualities or behaviors perceived to be characteristic of either the masculine or feminine directions of gender. But given that scales of are not discrete, but are inherently reciprocal, a position proposed for a composition on either scale could therefore equally well be conceived as occupying an equivalent position on the opposite scale. The notion of gendering of a composition or passage then looks decidedly hypothetical (Gender and Music Composition: A Study of Music and the Gendering of meanings, Desmond C Sergeant and Evangelos Himonides)"

In Young M.A.'s song "Ooouuu", although she is a female artist, she has a very masculine voice. It's not only her voice and demeanor, but the song itself is indicative of her sexual orientation. She talks about women in the same way that a male rapper would. She has a much different approach to rap than other female (heterosexual) rappers.

In contrast to Young MA's song, Danielle Bregoli's song "Hi Bitch" has a feminine voice to it. Bhad Bhabie, her stage name even has a more feminine sound to it than Young MA. Typically rappers who's name start with "young" are typically male. Although her song is distasteful, it does have a more feminine quality than that of "OOOUUU".

"In spite of my honesty in songs, I find it hard to articulate my thoughts about gender. The way we think and the words we use are all structured to fit around the gender binary. When I was about five years old I loved playing with Polly Pocket toys – this was the early 1990s, and they were the bomb. I knew even then I wasn’t supposed to like something so “girly”. We have our gender identities forced on us from the moment we are born, from the language we use to refer to children, to the clothes we put them in and the games we let them play. At about 10 years old I had long curtains-style hair (again, the 90s) and people frequently thought I was a girl. I would burn with shame and I was never entirely sure why. I was bullied throughout my early teens for being skinny, for being bad at sports, for being “feminine”, for not being masculine enough. I’ve had a difficult relationship with my own so-called masculinity. I’ve gone from wanting desperately to “be like everybody else” to rejecting the idea totally, and then to where I am now, which is a sort of ambiguous mashup of identities. I don’t have it worked out, but it doesn’t feel shameful or wrong (Modern Masculinity and Music: 2016, The Year of the Ambiguous Male, Olly Alexander)".
In this article, Alexander states that he embraced his feminine side in his early years. He says that his gender identity is somewhat ambiguous and he chooses not to embrace the cultural norm for men.

As one can see from this photo, Young MA hasn't embraced the traditional identity as a female just as Olly Alexander hasn't embraced the traditional look of a man. They are both androgynous in their own way. Their music also has a particularly ambiguous gender as well.
