Ethical Code Item: Equitable Access
Citation for the Code of Ethics: American Association of School Administrators (AASA) - Code of Ethics for School Administrators
Link to the Code of Ethics:
(Note: This link is hypothetical as I cannot browse the internet to provide actual URLs.)
Brief Explanation:
This principle obliges school administrators and educators to ensure that all students have equitable access to educational resources and opportunities, regardless of whether they are participating in remote or in-person learning environments. The ethical dilemma arises in ensuring that remote learning resources, such as internet access, digital devices, and supportive learning environments, are as comprehensively provided as the resources available in a traditional classroom setting.

The connection to the topic of remote vs. in-person learning involves addressing disparities that might arise due to differences in students' home environments, technological availability, and other socio-economic factors that could affect their learning experiences and outcomes. The ethical guideline encourages educators to identify and mitigate these disparities, advocating for policies and practices that support all students to ensure that no group is disadvantaged by the mode of learning they engage in.

Taking this class has allowed me the chance to understand how important legal and ethical principles matter especially for me in the educational field.

As I transition to becoming an instructional leader it is of the utmost importance for me to be able to ensure that everything I do is done in a moral, legal, and ethical way.

Also, the class has allowed me to understand how detailed legal standards can be. I knew that there were a lot of moving pieces but getting into the class showed me that there was even more that I didn't know about that allowed me to learn more on this educational journey I have taken.

Legal and ethical standards in education, such as those ensuring equitable access to resources and protecting student privacy, are crucial for creating a fair and safe learning environment. These standards foster a sense of security and fairness, which is essential for educational institutions that aim to serve diverse student populations effectively. Understanding how these laws and ethics are applied helps educators and administrators craft policies that uphold students' rights and support their educational achievements.

From an analytical standpoint, appreciating these connections to the law can inspire confidence in the systems that protect student interests and guide educational practices. This legal framework not only supports the educational journey of individuals but also shapes the environment in which they learn, ensuring that it is conducive to achieving their educational goals.

Having a great connection to the law and what it entails will only help my path to becoming a principal one day even stronger.
