1. How does the writer use language and structural devices to present the people she meets (Yaqoob and Iqbal)?

she uses language and structural devices to show that Yaqoob and Iqbal are adventurous and carefree, this is shown in the quotation 'we'll open the car boot, you climb inside and point your camera' this implies that the writer isn't fond of breaking the rules but at this moment she didn't care because she felt like the two young men, she felt free and she felt good breaking the rules for once. The writer presents both the young men are humorous and idiotic because they are both putting their lives in danger by the donkey race but unfortunately both Yaqoob and Iqbal didn't care about their safety.

The writer expects her experience to be ridiculous, chaotic and farcical. By metaphorically comparing the race to the TV show 'wacky races' she implies that the experience will be entertaining but also unusual and extraordinary. Lastly, she implies that the experience will be very different to experiences she is used to, and it may be a little offensive that she dismisses a cultural event in a different country as something to be poked fun at. everyone is very excited and looking forward to the big game, everyone is in high spirits, excited, even in spite of their own danger to make dangerous action for the game like “Men standing on top of their cars and vans, hanging out of taxis”.from “perched on lorries” we can know the scene was very lively.”all cheered and shouted, while the vehicles jostled to get to the front of the convoy” here we can see that there were so many people that there were no empty seats on the road Show that the playing field is not very professional any danger can occur, plus the large number of people can not be well managed, very dangerous
