I am really pleased to inform you that the new specification is now available on the website, and can be accessed.

Please remember this amended specification is only for learners who are entering Year 10 in September 2018 and will be certificating in Summer 2020 - with performance points counting in 2020.

Year 11 learners who will certificate in 2019 should continue to be taught the current 2012 specification 

Grading for the BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Sport Qualification to count towards performance points in 2020
  There has been an update on the grading model for the amended BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Sport specification.

To achieve a level 2 qualification learners must: complete and report an outcome for all units within the permitted combination (NB Unclassified is a permitted unit outcome)have sufficient points across the mandatory units, i.e. 24 points. This means that learners must achieve a minimum of 24 points in total across the 3 mandatory units achieve the minimum number of points at a grade threshold from the permitted combination. An example: To achieve an overall BTEC Level 2 First Award in Sport qualification
In the 3 mandatory units a learner could achieve (Remember unit 3 is now mandatory and synoptic):
Unit 1: Unclassified – 0 points Unit 2: Level 2 Pass – 12 points 
Unit 3: Level 2 Pass – 12 points
The learner has achieved 24 points in the mandatory units and could be eligible for an overall level 2 qualification depending on the grade for the optional specialist unit.

To achieve a level 1 qualification learners must: 
complete and report an outcome for all units within the permitted combination (NB Unclassified is a permitted unit outcome)have sufficient points across the mandatory units, i.e. 12 points . This means that learners must achieve a minimum of 12 points in total across the 3 mandatory units achieve the minimum number of points for a Level 1.
