This video from ABC News shows women of many different faiths wearing head scarves around New Zealand to show solidarity with the Muslim community, in wake of the recent mosque shootings. The terrorist attacks were meant to divide the people of New Zealand but they did the opposite. One woman says "He was hoping to divide us, and instead, he's brought us all together in one big hug." This is a powerful message because it really demonstrates the bond the people of New Zealand share with each other. They don't judge people based on religion or skin color; they accept everyone as human beings.

New Zealand has upped their security nation wide and are now working on banning all semi automatic weapons in the country. Most of the victims in the shootings were migrants and refugees. The main suspect in the shootings is 28 year old, Australian, white supremacist, Brenton Tarrant. He was recently charged with murder and was remanded without plea. He is due back in court on April 5th, 2019; where police say he is likely to face more charges. The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, has labeled this attack as terrorism.
Burials being for New Zealand Mosque shooting victims

On March 20th, 2019, the burials started for the victims of the mosque shootings in New Zealand. Khalid Mustafa and his 15 year old son were among the people getting buried that day. They were both gunned down by the mosque shooter and unfortunately did not survive their injuries. They were originally from Syria but fled to New Zealand for safety in wake of the civil war. Unfortunately, safety is not what they found. They are just two examples of the 50 lefts injured or even dead after the Christchurch shootings. It is disheartening to see innocent fleeing their country of origin for safety, only to be forced back in to dangerous and violent situations that cost them their lives.

The Christchurch Mosque shootings left 50 people dead. Within those 50 were people of many different ages, professions and backgrounds. One of the victims was a dairy farmer, another aspired to be a pilot and one was even an elder that was known for helping and welcoming new comers to the mosque. One of the victims was 33 year old Atta Elayyan. He was a technology entrepreneur and a new father. His young daughter has now had her father taken away from her. Another one of the victims was three-year-old Mucad Ibrahim. He was the youngest person to fall victim to the shooting. When the shooting started he was at the Al Noor Mosque. Due to all the commotion he became separated from his brother and father. He was later pronounced dead. This article was especially heartbreaking to read. Getting to know the victims really shows you how disturbing this situation was and it's a shame that these people got denied the chance of life.

Bernie Sanders Shares His Thoughts on the Christchurch Mosque Shootings

When a terrorist event like the Christchurch mosque shootings happens, it's not just the victims family and friends that are deeply effected, it's the whole world. We've made amazing progress in the quest for world peace. Then things like this happen and catches all of us off guard. Bernie Sanders was very hurt by the events that took place in Christchurch. He talks about reading holocaust books when he was a kid and crying. He reflects on past conflicts the human race has had over the years and talks about how we should have learned from them. I agree with him. Commuting acts of terror like this should be a thing of the past.

The mother of the suspect in the Christchurch shootings speaks out to reporters. She shares her thoughts on her sons actions and she is not happy. She was just as surprised as the rest of the world to hear the news. She feels her sons actions were so appalling that he deserves the death penalty. I personally agree with what she is saying. I understand that this is her son that committed these crimes but they were very disturbing and unacceptable in my option. The death penalty is what i think the person that committed this crime deserves. He committed an act of terror that left 50 people dead and deserves nothing short of the death penalty.

New Zealand Has One Mass Shootings and Banned semi-automatic

This tweet is short and simple but it has a strong message. This twitter user talks about how New Zealand has one mas shooting, leaving 50 dead and bans semi-automatic rifles but the United States has had thousands and all guns are still legal. I feel that New Zealand is handling thing the right way. They are taking action right away that will prevent future events like this. Where as the United States has taken almost no action when it come to banning guns that are able to injure multiple people at once; despite the amount of mass shootings the United States has had. It's almost irresponsible for them not to ban semi-automatic weapons with the amount of gun violence they have.
