Quick Video Introduction of Easter Island

Here is just a short video of the island, introducing you to the mystery of this place, with some nice visuals.

In this video, Richard Bangs gives us a few details on the island, mainly focusing on the beauty of the landscape, including a look at the Moai statues. The video features many time lapses and briefly touches upon different questions about the statues such as why were the statues created, and why were they organized the way they were?

I think this video was just to update some of the content that was on the web, with some better visuals in HD and show the island once again to a specific fan base of the creator's, however I would have appreciated it more if there were more content and information being provided in the video.

If you would like to know some specific details about the island, the History Channel has a pretty neat page about it here: http://www.history.com/topics/easter-island

The page dives into many ranges of topics about the island including the history and civil wars between the populations that used to live there, to theories about the statues carved from volcanic rock called the Moai, to details about the current economy and landscape of the island.

This is a good place to start when familiarizing yourself with the island and about its many topics.

This picture here shows how a Moai statue could have been moved when they were first constructed by the Polynesian peoples that lived there.

The photo is of an experiment done in July 2012 in Hawaii, led by two archaelogists, Terry Hunt and Carl Lipo. The experiment was to test a method that was described by oral tradition, which was that the statues had walked to their destination.

Now, avoiding taking that literally, it is assumed that it was meant that the creators had tied ropes to the statues at the top of the heads (like in the picture) and it took a considerable amount of people to rock the statue back and forth to its destination.

For this experiment they used a replica statue which weighed 5 tons, and took 30 people to accomplish their task. I do not believe this is the actual method used to transport the Moai, as it would have been too much effort, especially since there are more than 800 reported statues all over the island.

Here is a piece of artwork that briefly describes the theory of aliens being the reason why these statues have been placed on the island, and that the origional civilization that was there, is not in fact responsible for these giant statues.

There are many people who believe that this could be true, however just because there is no answer to WHY these things exist, does not mean we should attach unreasonable theories to the mystery. What reason would extraterrestrials have that would require them to leave so many of these statues here? Why would they pick just one island?

If there were aliens behind these Moai statues, I am sure we would have figured it out by now, or as to what purpose the aliens would have left them here for, especially considering the descendants of the origional civilizations have their own ideas about the statues (which were passed down to them orally, of course).

ALIEN THEORY EXPOSED - EASTER ISLAND HEADS

Here is an interesting video talking about the show Ancient Aliens on theHistory Channel and analyzing how they are being biased in their explanations. They want to believe that aliens helped create these stone statues so they give out misleading information to help prove their theories.

This video breaks down some of the facts that they give us with some extended information that they are leaving out. One example is that there is a theory that to transport the stone statues, the Polynesians used logs and rope to pull them along the surface of the ground. The alien theorists claim that there are no trees on Easter Island and that this belief has been proven false. However, they did not check the land itself which has many remnants of pollen and other natural clues that show that there once was trees way back in the day when these statues were created.

Here are some photos of statues that were still in development and never got finished. It's very interesting to see how the Polynesians carved them right from the volcanic rock on the island. In the video to the left of this picture, it explains how they used tools and hammers to carve the stone. The size of the stones compared to humans is magnificent - they truly are overwhelming.
