The Peale Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. The Peale Museum is often considered the first Fine Art Museum stemming from the personal collection of portraits by CW Peale, who opened his first viewing gallery in 1782. Peale's collection would eventually grow and become a portrait gallery called "Collection of Portraits of American Patriots" (which would lead to the National Portrait Gallery) but would close after only two years. The famous Peale's Museum that is recognized today wouldn't be opened until 1814 by Rembrandt Peale, a son of CW Peale.
