The first phrase is "Tryna cross a canyon with a broken limb". This is metaphorical for the immense difficulty of her current circumstances, as crossing a canyon with a broken limb would be near impossible. Connecting it to her relationship, it shows how she is emotionally unstable and her relationship is in shambles, so she is stuck at rock bottom. This relates to ethos because it brings credibility to her struggles through creative language. 

The second phrase is "I'd already had a sip, so I reasoned I was drunk enough to deal with it". This is a creative analogy for Florence's life. She is saying that she has coped with the same issues in the past, so what's another day. This is her attempt to justify staying in the relationship despite her unhappiness. Two phrases that stuck out to me are as follows. 

The first phrase is "What kind of man loves like this". This is the origin of the song title, and also takes place in the chorus when the background music picks up. This appeals to pathos because listeners instantly feel empowered by Florence's ability to break out fo her shell and consider moving on from her relationship. The lyrics emphasize that no person should treat someone like this, particularly one who claims to love you. She finally realizes this and it is a major turning point in the story.

The second phrase is "trying to crawl back in for more". This relates to pathos because it brings an aspect of vulnerability to the song. When she realizes she could do better, her lover tried to pull her back in and she had to remain strong.
