It was said the medicine was hundreds of years ahead of its time. A big part of it was that Islamic scholars were able to find out the nature of illness and could find out what had been causing the symptoms.
Before, it was believed that Allah would send a cure for the ill but hospitals were created and changed people's ideas. Their doctors even had to go to medical school where they studied the work of ancient Greeks and Indians. Most major cities had a large hospital where anyone could go, the largest being in Cairo, Egypt, it was said it helped 4,000 patients a day.

He also was known as a physician and teacher. He wrote detailed books about medicine and his best and most famous “The Canon” or “The Canon of Medicine. Ibn believed diagnoses could be made with just urine samples and checking the pulse. He also had some other big breakthroughs about infant care.

The book was even used as the standard medical textbook for European doctors until the 17th century. The Canon of Medicine was not only a very good and important medical book but is was a very good and important book in general.
