I quickly fell in love with the futuristic setting, and the questions my mind starts rolling every time I stop reading. I am currently on page 408 of 433. So, with not much left to read, I'm torturing myself trying to anticipate how the book ends. Starting with the last place I stopped reading, Citra Terranova had just walked into the Winter Conclave, ready to take her final test, to declare if she would be ordained or not the following day. Prior to that, the book had set me up in an emotional roller coaster with so many curve balls I was not anticipating. Rowan had just "gleaned" all of his mentors in anger of their way of gleaning. That part really had me really overjoyed, as dark as that may sound. It was something i feel like a lot of people who read Scythe, had anticipated. You see, Rowan had a growing conflict with not only Honorable Scythe Goddard and his colleagues, but himself as well for beginning to see how successful he was at Goddards methods. But he proved that he still had his humanity in tact when he took revenge at the next mass gleaning, after his friend, Honorable Scythe Volta gleaned himself after not being able to forgive himself for gleaning a classroom full of children. On the other side of the spectrum, Citra had just returned after her journey to find the murderer of her and Rowans initial mentor, Honorable Scythe Faraday. She then finds out that he never died but rather faked his self gleaning to run away from the scythedome. This was something I felt like I should have seen coming but yet it seemed I had just been hit with a brick. It changes all the possible outcomes you imagine setting a whole new road. It easily put itself on the list of my favorite books I've ever read. I already new I had to read the sequel. I am currently on page 102. So far it has been very immersive. But it hasn't necessarily kept me on the same page as the story line. The author has introduced another character and he hasn't given me many answers as to the characters significance. Nevertheless, I think that only makes it ever so engaging. I feel as if it i'm on the edge of my seat every time this new character ties in with the main protagonists. On the other hand, where the book picked up from where i was left in Scythe, they setting moved forward almost a year. It starts out with not much context and it takes a while to understand what is happening. It turns out that Rowan had took the corrupt scythedom into his own hands and started murdering inhumane scythes. It may sound messed up but I actually am very excited with the path that Rowan took. The main conflict of the book is Rowan taking the corrupt scythedome into his own hands by going rouge and gleaning new age scythes. Citras main conflict is her more peaceful way of stopping the increase of new age scythes with choosing a very controversial way of gleaning, by giving the victims the opportunity to live their best life with one more month. It helps me understand what the two of them stand for. they were forced into the scythedome, but they didn't lose their sense of humanity in what they had to do. I think you can look at Rowan and Citra as role models. They teach you to never lose yourself in what you do and to find the best way of doing things. 
On the other side of the story, I am starting to get lost with Greyson's significance. It is throwing me off balance with what is happening and I have no clue how he will end up tying into the story. However, I feel like that is an attribute that i can really appreciate about this book. The mystery and suspense leaves me clueless with what is going to happen next, or how something is going to turn out.

Last week I talked about Rowan and Citras determination to not lose perspective on life because of what they do. They both seek for a better scythedome. The new age scythes have this horrible way of gleaning with biased views on cultures and people. Citra is in a struggling battle with new age scythes who despise her influence on the scythedome. And rowan is still in hiding but taking forceful action on corrupt scythes. For the past three weeks I haven't been able to identify what Greyson's purpose was but it was just revealed, as he is apart of a plot to 🤬 both Citra and Scythe Curie. I think that around the middle of the book, which is where I am at now, was a very good spot to reveal that his purpose is tied into what Citra has been hiding from. I think this is the climax in the books plot and i feel like the rest of the book will be falling action to the conclusion. In an evil plot to bring him back, Scythe Rand was training Rowans friend to turn his body into a suitable scythe for Goddards head. It was a big plot twist that caught both me and Rowan off guard. It was a very emotional part of the book and you can really relate to Rowan as it was one of the lowest points for him so far in the book. Next in the story line, Scythe Goddard who is still believed to be dead by everyone other than Rowan and Scythe Rand, will make an unexpected appearance at conclave. This caused absolute mayhem. While new generation Scythes were overjoyed as their idol has returned, the old generation weren't the most excited people on the planet. Whatever side they may have put themselves on, not a single Scythe wasn't in disbelief. The voting was halted due to an inquest at Endura, which is like the scythes haven, and is where big disputes are discussed. Goddard planned to reveal Rowan to the counsel hoping it would give him an upper edge in the decision. Leading up this point and the end of the book, I think most people could  predict that somehow, things aren't going to go according to Goddards plan; it seems that is the case. Where I left off, Scythe Rand was trying to start a serious relationship with Goddard. Not only did he neglect her, but he completely humiliated her and she began to hate Goddard with a burning passion. It's a big turning point and she is a pivotal role in the success of the old order scythes regardless of the fact that she is a new order scythe. It makes you come to appreciate her less ruthless ways as compared to Goddard. A plot twist type of ending always has me on the edge of my seat. The inquest goes in the favor of Scythe Anastasia leaving Goddard furious. In the upcoming hours of the story line, Endura begins to suffer many technical problems and out of nowhere Endura begins to sink. All of the Grandslayers, who just previously gave favor to Scythe Anastasia die at the ruthlessness of Scythe Goddard. Through the tragic events i am still trying to predict how the disaster of a situation will turn out in favor of Citra and Rowan. They end up sinking to the bottom of the Atlantic in an air tight vault were the will freeze to death for the rest of time until they are discovered and revived. As i finished the book my mind was running in circles. I had to emotions, excitement, because as expected the book had a very thrilling ending. However, my other emotion was confusion because I couldn't understand why an author would end a book with the antagonist prevailing in such a manner. I don't have much actual reading to report on because I have only just begun but the first 30 pages do have me hooked. I love the science fiction/futuristic style genre and I can see that present in War Cross. So far, to my understanding the main character, Emika, is an 18 year old who is struggling to keep a roof over head. For her pay, she is a low class bounty hunter. She is struggling to accept the reality of her situation and misses her old life. There is this thing that keeps being mentioned in the book called "War Cross" that i have yet to figure out. But it seems like some type of competitive alternate reality that the entire world seems to be obsessed with. I am eager to find out what is so special with War Cross and what its significance is in the book. Just when he feels comfortable, his closest friend is found dead. With his mind wrapped around his friends death he begins to feel suspicious of his dads absence. I've quickly fallen in love with this book. The story line has me completely hooked and i cant get enough of it. I can't really connect with the main character when it comes to his scenario because I am nothing like him, and have never been in a situation like his.
