Before I thought that long and expressive storytelling was something that you'd have to grow up with to be able to do. With enough practice, I found that I was able to do it, too. In addition, with English in the US, we use speaking as a prerequisite for literacy but I've come to realize that it is a more important part of literacy than we give it credit for. I also thought that using pictures was a really creative way of telling the story and it helped to keep the reader engaged.
