Based on Surah Al-Alaq, verse 1-5, explain the order of reading and seeking knowledge. The command to read, intended by Allah SWT, is interpreted as a call to read books, read about His greatness, read about oneself, and read about the universe. This will help people become knowledgeable and avoid ignorance.

2. Al-Quran as a guidance of book

Based on Surah Israk verse 9-21, we know that the Quran guides to what is most upright upright and gives good news to the believes who do good, that they will have a mighty reward.

The Importance of the Pillars of Islam

• To strengthen bond between us and Allah

• To strengthen bond between us and others

• To strengthen souls and keeping away from major sins

• To make us the real servant of Allah

3 Aspects of the Hadith Jibril

• Islam (testifying that there is no God but Allah and that Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, performing prayer, giving zakat, fasting in the month of Ramadan, performing Hajj if able)

• Iman (believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in fate (qadar), both in its good and in its evil aspects)

• Ihsan (worship Allah as though you see Him, for even if you do not see Him, He surely sees you)

Significances of the hadith:

• The Hadith of Jibril(Gabriel) is a great Hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad explained faith(Iman), Islam and excellence (Ihsan). He also mentioned signs of the Hour and its indications.

• This Hadith provides comprehensive insights into the core aspects of faith, worship and the unseen.

• Jibril as teaching for the religion.

• Jibril as a teacher because he asked about matters that the companions heard and answer to. So, the aspect of teaching was added to it because he came as a questioner to teach others, not to learn himself.

• He was knowledgeable in that regard, and that's whu he would say 'You have spoken the truth' after the Prophet Muhammad clarified the matters for which he was responsible.

Hadith Jibril and Adab of Seeking Knowledge

• Refer to the knowledgeable person/scholars in matters of religion.

• Don't be afraid/shy/hesitate to ask.

• Don't be afraid to say "I do not know".

1) Belief in Allah : The starting point of entering Islam

• A person must believe in Allah to enter Islam, declaring belief in Allah

• Believing in Allah is related to tawhid.

• Tawhid is divided into 3 categories:

1. Tawhid Rububiyyah - derived from the word "rabb"(lordship), affirming Allah's lordship, that He manages, creates and regulates everything.

2. Tawhid Uluhiyyah/Ibadah - affirming that Allah is the only God worthy of worship and obeying His guidance.

3. Tawhid Asma wa Sifat - affirming that Allah is the only one who has the perfect names and attributes, there is no one like Him and none is equal to Allah.

2) Belief in the Angels

• There are 10 angels that must be known

• Belief that angels exist

3) Belief in the Scriptures

• Torah(Moses), Gospel(Jesus), Zabur(David), Qur'an(Muhammad)

• The Qur'an will remain pure until the Day of Judgment because Allah has promised this in the Qur'an.

• The Qur'an is our daily life guard.

4) Belief in the Prophets and Messengers

• Believe that Allah sent prophets to invite and teach people to worship Him.

• Prophets were sent to call upon humanity to uphold the Oneness of Allah.

• Prophets explained to people their responsibilities.

5) Belief in the Day of Judgement

• Believe that everything on earth will come to an end and be destroyed.

• All humans will be resurrected.

• Every deed performed during life will be questioned again.

6) Belief in Divine Decree (Qada' and Qadar)

• Allah determines everything that happens to His creations with His knowledge and will.

• Allah enacts these decrees according to His divine plan.

• All things are subject to Allah's will and power, whether good or bad.

• All of Allah's decrees hold wisdom for His servants.

According to the Quran, The 3 Characteristics Al-Muhsin (a person who possesses the quality of Ihsan) are :

1. Doing good to others.

2. Doing good to others to the best of one's ability.

3. Doing 1&2 for the sake of Allah.

First example: Prophets Nuh A.S

• Preached for 950 years.

• Built an ark and preached day and night.

• Did it all for Allah.

Second example: Prophet Ibrahim A.S

• Preached to his uncle (Azar, the idol maker)

• Thought deeply about how to destroys idols.

• Was willing to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail, for Allah.

Third example: Prophet Yusuf A.S

• Turned away from committing adultery with Zulaikha.

• Interpreted the dream of the king of Egypt.

• Did it for Allah and not for people.

1. Adab towards Parents

• Respect: Always respect and appreciate your parents with words and actions.

• Listen: Pay attention to their advice and instructions.

2. Adab towards Neighbors

• Mutual Respect: Show respect to neighbors by not disturbing their peace.

• Help: Offer assistance to neighbors in need, such as carrying items or visiting those who are sick.

3. Adab towards Friends

• Listen: Listen to your friends' problems and opinions attentively.

• Support: Provide moral support during tough times and celebrate their successes.

1. Taaruf – Introduction (Getting to know each other)

2. Tafahum – Understanding (Mutual understanding)

3. Taawun – Cooperation (Helping one another)

4. Takaful – Solidarity (Mutual support)

Worship is when we do something for the sake of Allah SWT.

Additionally, the purpose of human creation is to worship Allah.

The benefits we gain from the Pillars of Islam:

1. Salah (Prayer) – Prevents immoral and evil deeds. Improves health and ensures better hygiene.

2. Fasting (Sawm) – Controls the desires for food and drink. Trains oneself to be more pious.

3. Zakat (Charity) – Purifies our wealth and soul. Helps reduce poverty.

4. Hajj (Pilgrimage) – Increases our devotion to Allah.

We do not enter paradise because of our worship, but we enter paradise through Allah’s mercy, and Allah’s mercy is attained through worship.

Ways to attain khusyu' in prayer:

1. Taharah – Maintain purity and cleanliness.

2. Understand the meaning of the verses recited in prayer.

3. Minimize unnecessary movements to stay focused.

4. Pray at the earliest time to avoid rushing.

5. Pray in congregation for greater spiritual impact.

1) Al-Ta'ah (Submission/Loyalty)

• Total obedience to Allah's commands.

• In Salah:

- Bowing and prostration signify submission.

- Builds unwavering loyalty to Allah.

• Reflection: Salah remainds us of our purpose and servitude to Allah.

2) Al-Jihad (Struggle in the path of Allah)

• Striving for Allah's cause, spiritually and morally.

• In Salah:

- Overcoming distractions to maintain focus.

- Battling the self to achieve khusyu'.

• Reflection: Daily prayers strengthen our resolve to face life's struggle with patience.

3) Tawaddu' (Humility/Humbleness)

• Acknowledge of one's position as a servant of Allah.

• In Salah:

- Physical acts like bowing and prostration demonstrate humility.

- Removes arrogance and instills gratitude.

• Reflection: Develops a humble attitude in daily interactions.

4) Muhasabah (Reflection)

• Self-accountability and self-contemplation.

• In Salah:

- Time for self-reflection and seeking forgiveness.

- Evaluating actions and intentions before Allah.

• Reflection: Encourage a purified heart and a clear conscience.

5) Iffah (Modesty/Self-restaint from sinful behaviour)

• Avoidance of sinful behavior and desires.

• In Salah:

- Reminder of Allah's presence fosters modesty in thoughts and actions.

- Nurtures self-discipline and moral integrity.

• Reflection: A barrier against sins and worldly distractions.

1. Fasting helps individuals control their desires.

2. Fasting teaches a person to avoid sinful acts such as backbiting, foul speech, and lying.

The Virtues of Fasting:

1. Sabr (Patience and Perseverance)

   • The act of restraining desires to maintain self-control.

   • Three types of patience:

     • Patience in obedience to Allah.

     • Patience in avoiding Allah’s prohibitions.

     • Patience in enduring pain and appreciating joy.

2. Takrim (Honor and Nobility)

   • The concept of takrim (nobility) in fasting involves:

     • Obedience to Allah’s commands.

     • Seeking closeness to Allah.

     • Developing self-discipline.

     • Encouraging empathy and compassion.

   • The significance of takrim in human relationships:

     • Strengthening unity.

     • Promoting forgiveness and reconciliation.

     • Cultivating good character.

     • Encouraging social responsibility.

3. Rahmah (Mercy and Compassion)

   • Fasting is seen as a way to cultivate various aspects of rahmah, including:

     • Seeking Allah’s mercy.

     • Reflecting on Allah’s mercy.

     • Developing empathy and compassion.

     • Forgiving and making peace.

     • Nurturing mercy within one’s character.

A determined share of wealth

The Virtues of Zakah

1) Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah)

• Training Muslims to rely on Allah SWT rather than material wealth.

• Assurance that Allah will replace what is given for His sake.

2) Ukhuwah

• Fosters love, empathy, and unity among Muslims.

• Purifies society from envy and hatred.

3) Bridging Relationships

• Vertical correlation: relationship with Allah SWT.

• Horizontal correlation: relationship with fellow humans.
