         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><strong>Unit Choice</strong>: The 1920’s&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Rationale</strong>: The 1920’s is an important era for students to study and learn about. A lot of the changes/innovations of the decade are still relevant today, such as urban living. Studying the 1920’s can help students to explore questions about constitutionality, through Prohibition and women’s suffrage. History is an essential subject to study because it can help us study the present as well. The political and social arena of the 1920’s raised tensions and this feeling can be applied to modern day society.&nbsp; Overall, the 1920’s was a significant time period that needs to be studied, because much of what happened then can be applied or is still directly relevant to what is happening now.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Related Content Standards</strong>:</div><div>H1.[9-12].7 Evaluate how cultural developments in the arts, literature, architecture, education, media, and leisure activities have reflected and changed society<br><br></div><div>H3.[9-12].8 Discuss the effects of early technologies on society, i.e., communication, transportation, and manufacturing.<br><br></div><div>H3.[9-12].6 Examine social tensions in the post-World War I era, i.e., radical politics, immigration restrictions, internal migration, religious fundamentalism, and racism.<br><br></div><div>H3.[9-12].7 Describe the development of the women‘s suffrage movement and the subsequent passage of the 19th Amendment.<br><br></div>]]></description>
