Aim: to investigate whether meditation could change brain activity.
Procedure: 8 Buddhist monks meditated, 10 volunteers trained in meditation for a week. Then their gamma rays were measured using a PET scan. At the same time these individuals meditated on compassion and love.
Findings: gamma waves high in monks, brain adapts to stimulation, and all monks, plus 2 volunteers increased gamma rays.

His sample included volunteer meditators and non-meditators that has similar ages and their brain was scanned.
