- Library trips were huge in my home
- I remember that one of the first steps when learning to read was learning the sounds of each letter 
- I participated in ELD program where I was offered extra help since I was/am a second language learner

When I began to attend school as an EL learner, they would have us use this book that was the same content (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.) on both of the pages with the only difference being it was in both English and Spanish. However, once I was in 2nd grade, I was only doing work in English and had to learn as I went. I did not know how to read in English and had to work hard to learn.
