Brainstorm ways in which culture and society influences education. When answering the question consider both micro (Family and Individual) and macro (social and political).
You will need to make the discussion interactive, so comment on at least two of your classmate's post

Society has a big influence on our education. Without society how would we learn? What would we learn?
Most of what we learn at young ages comes form our surroundings in society, what people are wearing, how people talk, etc. All of these factors can play a role on our education.

Micro
Family - Family can have a big influence on education depending on what the family values are in correlation to education. Also the culture of the family can have an impact on education depending on the culture values in education.
Individual - We are a major influence on our education. We are the only person we can fully rely on to take our education seriously and participate in it to the best of our abilities.

Macro
Social - Society 100% influences our education as it is society that creates this education for us. As I stated before, without society how would we learn, and what would we learn? Although society does not dictate every little thing in our education it will play a major role in how we learn.
Political - This factor will also influence our education for many reasons. Politically what is happening at the time of our education is going to impact our education. There is no way around politics not influencing our education.

Different cultures value different things. Some cultures value education and hard work above all else, while others value family or play. Children are likely to follow the influences of their family’s cultural opinions towards education, and educators need to be aware of what that looks like.

Socially and politically, you could note that access to education is a big influence. Here in Canada, we have a government funded school system as well as a private school system, however in other countries the school system could be fully funded by volunteers and the community.

It is important as educators to understand that all of our students come to us from different cultural backgrounds and with different educational needs and we need to be prepared to help them all the best we cannot matter the circumstance.

I have raised my parents. My parents were not well-educated because of their family circumstances and were not aware of education in those days. They have struggled a lot when they come to parenting to teach us for education; they are advised and insisted on studying well for me and providing many opportunities, such as best schools and extra tutoring services, on earning good grades. Successfully I graduated with a bachelor's degree in electronics and communication. My parents were proud of me. I am from India. Our education is based on the specific syllabus, and we need to memorize everything did not have a chance to write our essays and creativity. Even for education in India, most go to private schools because they believe the best teaching method for public schools. Parents also think children will learn discipline. Therefore, they are going to get the best colleges for higher education.

When we consider culture as future educators, we need to be aware of different cultures to make the new education system in society. In addition, we need to respect everyone's beliefs and acknowledge their feelings to implement the learning process more effectively. I believe in positive interactions with each child and also connections with families to know about child welfare. These are the best ways to communicate and work together to attain positive influences in education.
By
Gomathi

Education is largely based around societal views and beliefs. A perfect example of this is the Residential Schools that were operational in Canada from the mid 1800s until 1996. These schools were based solely on converting the Indigenous people to fit the European standard. They were quite literally the definition of education being influenced by society. In regards to more recent education, we see media and society shaping our curriculums in other, more positive ways. As our society has become more accepting of different backgrounds (i.e. cultures, sexual identity/orientation, family configurations, languages, special needs, etc.), the curriculum is changing to accommodate for these needs. More special needs programs/supports are being added to school constantly, children as young as one are being introduced to sign language and other communication methods. Mental health is being taught in classrooms and is being taken into account for sick days.

Family: In my opinion family can impact education in a few different ways. Some of theses ways include family values and beliefs. Values and beliefs can have a big impact on education because if the caregivers don't like the schools beliefs they do not need to send there child to that school.

Individual: I believe that we can sometimes hold ourselves back as individuals and second guess things. This can impact how we do with are schooling.

Social: Being social is great well your at school because you can make friends and get peer support that we might not get from our families. Although this is true having peers can also effect education in a bad way as sometimes we get peer pressure and are judgment can change due to that. For example if I was peer pressured to only apply to schools my friends where going to I might have but I didn't.

Political: Political views and how the party choses to run education can totally effect education for students and teachers. Views can cause a family to say no I can't send my child here or they can disagree with how an educator is teaching. Furthermore Politics can effect funding for schools which in turn can effect how an educator teaches do to the funding they get for resources.

How does society affect education?

Micro- individuality, culture, background, family

Society heavily influences education. For instance, families or cultures have their own beliefs about what is the utmost priority. In my Filipino background, many elders believe in the importance of being well educated in STEM. They assume people who specialize in those subjects can get a higher chance of getting into an acclaimed university and get a higher-paying job. They also believe in the importance of grades or academics. They think that those things reflect the intelligence of a person. Those things affect education as they can influence the children’s' perspective. It might pressure a child to focus on a specific field. It can lead the child to believe that academics are the basis of everything.

Macro- social and politics

Community affects education.

Many organizations are established to protect children due to progressive people who advocate for children's rights.

These advocates affected how education looks today. Many teachers are informed about the importance of looking at the "whole" child. Most schools also offer extracurricular activities. Therefore, learning is extended physically, outside of the classroom.

Politics also affect education because they can influence schools' curriculum and legislation. The guidelines in the classroom and even the safety measure that we follow in school today was due to policies created by the authorities.

-Mavee

[Micro]
{Family}
Family members can influence the education of their children. I think if parents are highly educated, their children tend to have chances to be highly educated like their parents. Also, parents' finances and jobs they have can influence their children's education. For example, you may see that there are many families of doctors, lawyers and so on which requires high education.
{Individual}
The learning conditions such as physical and mental health are all different. These can affect its education. For instance, disabled children having hearing issues, ADHD would feel difficult to reach out to the designated learning outcomes.
[Macro]
{Social}
Society trends have had the power to change the education system. When the world has changed, new information occurred and some other information is eliminated. When feminism came to force, many people emphasized the importance of women's education importance and being able to enroll in schools, and they could get a more sophisticated education
{Political}
There's an example of why political issues influence education My home country, Kore is now the only divided country in the world. It means some people agree with unity and some others do not. Children have impacted their education whenever the regime has changed because the contents of history textbooks slightly changed by ruling party

Micro:
(Family)

Family has a large influence on children's education because the children's parents or legal guardians are the ones who affect children's education the most, whether positively or negatively. They can choose to either send their kids to school, or homeschool them instead. Their emotions also affect children's education and whether they are an active participant in their learning or not (going to parent teacher nights, making sure grades are good, etc.) A parent/guardian who hounds their children and is overly strict about grades and classes will likely make children loose their confidence in school, or feel overwhelmed with all of their parents expectations for them.

(Individual)
Education is also influenced by an individual's abilities because when it comes to learning, everyone is different. Some have learning disabilities which make it difficult to do their work, thus making it harder to learn through the ways most teachers usually teach. Children who struggle in these ways may need special programs or assistance in the form of support staff or personal tutoring. Without the proper support, its pretty hard for some students to get work done properly, which affects their attitude towards learning.

Macro:
(Social)
Society affects children's education when global movements occur that raise questions from the children themselves. An example of this would be the Black Lives Matter movement that happened last year. Children hear about this on the news or from parents, and are curious to learn more about BLM so they ask their teachers. These movements shape the children's education because teachers may decide to induct these social issues into the children's learning to teach them more about it.

(Political)
Political views are always constantly changing along with the expectations of what we should and should teach in schools. An example of this was when people started to believe that it was wrong to teach children Sex Education in schools, and that discussions like that should be left up to the parents. When the government changes what children are instructed to learn, it affects them big time because the newer generations aren't learning the same things the older generations were, such as how they stopped teaching cursive in schools.

[Micro]
(Family)
Everyone is born into a family and is impacted by three different educational environments: home, school, and society. These three settings may be viewed as nurturing cradles that have a significant impact on the development of children's personalities, with the family serving as the foundation, an important foundation that shapes children's personalities during maturity. Every human being is born into a family, from a father and a mother...so the first sight is at the parents, the first sound is from the parents, grandparents, siblings, and sisters...so the sound of the family is heard first. Through the lullabies of their mother, grandmother... and the direction of their families, the care of the family helps the children grow up, learn to take their first steps, learn their first words, and penetrate the traditions of family culture and societal culture. The first thing is that instructs and teaches youngsters to behave in accordance with societal norms and ethical values in their family. Therefore, it can be upon the family the child is being raised in. If the expectation is higher for the normal child, then it can create a bad environment for them. This appears when they expect attitude, score in school, forcing to learn a new thing (ahead of ages), etc.

(Individual)
The fact that everybody is had a chance to learn and develop. But there is some “not untrue but incomplete” situation because it is not all the child was born in lucky and healthy. Some of them have every ability to learn and develop but the environment is block them to connect with education. Others are not too lucky born with disabilities. There is no need to go so far, Africa is one of the popular places where most the child struggles to go to school because the poor of family, country. Indeed, that they still try to help them. Therefore, it only stops at some level, rarely we can see people climb above it. In another hand, some of the situations for the child who is born with disabilities to connect with education is so hard. Then it is where language start develops because society needs it to be. Mute language for the people who can’t talk or the touch language on the table for people who can’t see. There are some special curriculums the society develops to help any individual who is not lucky enough to connect to education.

[Marco]
(Society)
After Family, the second door that we need to face to get into a phrase of developing call Society. The effect that Society brings back in two ways can be described as positive and negative. In the positive direction, real principles, and standards such as dedication to the people, responsibility to work, professionalism, correct conduct, and attitude... are formed in educational institutions, creating ideal conditions for the formation of a generation loyal to the Fatherland. Developing traditional values such as patriotism, solidarity, and national pride; love, respect for others, and a feeling of community; courage, indomitability, and the virtue of need; thrift, humility, simplicity, and honesty; and so on. The negative direction is Traditional values that are backward, conservative, and inappropriate to the contemporary context and circumstances, such as local ideology, small farmers, equality, and so on, will obstruct people's ability to construct and develop a quality, civilized, and modern culture.

(Political)
There have always been classes in the evolution of human civilization. The class maintains itself through education. The leadership class sets educational aims and objectives, and political views, legislation, ethical standards, and social lifestyles are all included in education to mould everyone into a distinct individual. benchmark based on the political process of a country. For example, western nations such as the United States and Canada. In my opinion, follow the democratic party, work, live for the people, and grow for the people. Asian nations, on the other hand, frequently join the communist or republican parties. They frequently direct and educate individuals in accordance with specific criteria, and they must be committed to the ideals of national independence and socialism.

(Family)
Families have a great influence on education. It seems to be the first place of education for children. Through the family, the child learns language, lifestyle, and moral values. The physical, mental, and emotional development of a child takes place in the home. In addition, since it has a great influence on the child's personality, I think that individual competence or behavioral characteristics would vary greatly depending on the characteristics or atmosphere of the family environment.
(Individual)
I think the direction or form of education changes due to the beliefs or values of individuals in education. For example, if we have a negative view of public education, we would focus more on private education, and another example, if we have an important value for art education, we will let educate in that direction according to the framework.
(Social)
Society is changing rapidly these days. As the amount of knowledge and information to be learned increases and the future is unpredictable, education needs constant change and is greatly influenced to prepare for it. For instance, we changed the direction or paradigm of education overnight due to the COVID-19. Therefore,in the future, I think education will be more affected by changes in society.
(Political)
Politics seems to have a lot of influence on education. I think that if presidents, ministers, and lawmakers realize the right politics for the country and practice the 'Nobleness oblige', their excellent lives will be an example for children's education, mental guides, and guidance

I genuinely feel three out of the four topics mush together, and one inevitably affects the other, by this I mean;

Family; it’s what you’re born into, it’s all you know, it’s who chooses your education and what you learn, for example, homeschool vs public school or Catholic school, or even daycare. Keeping in mind these last two years where the kids have constantly been with their parents and sheltered and restricted in their homes from the pandemic, in turn, affects social behaviour and learning.

Politics- politics affect education the most, from daycare access/affordability to deciding if schools are open or closed. If open they choose all policies and practices and curriculum and of course and last but not least funding, dictating, extra help for students who need it, proper classes and materials, and extracurricular activities that affect.. Social

Social- government chooses if/when schools close and when closed social influence rises but more media wise because electronics are NEEDED for learning while electronics and the internet make it almost impossible to use a phone, radio, computer, tv without some sort of ad or social influence causing many distractions from learning what they’re learning and how they’re learning.

Individual- I feel anyone in the field of education sees the most individuality than anyone else. Children are going to be their own individuals and learn how they want to. We see it in our classes every day. Each child is unique and grows best with their preferred method (which is up to us as educators to help figure out) whether sensory, physically, visually, etc.

When looking into all the factors that influence education, the impact that culture and society have is often underestimated. for example different society and cultures have diverse views on education and the importance it holds.These views on education, as well as different levels of access directly effects ones education experience. These affects on ones education do not stop there as our family can be perhaps the biggest influences on your views and educational journey. Along with parents transferring there views about how important education is and what subjects should be most important,family can also be responsible for a tremendous amount of stress to do expectation they place on the child that are sometimes unrealistic or not developmentally acceptable .As long as educators are respectful of everyone's views and beliefs, as well as try there best to integrate numerous cultures within the classroom, we can insure that every child feels a sense of belonging and wants to engage in the learning occurring.

Society and culture are both major influences on our education. As an individual Society affects the way that you grow up a lot. Like people who are born in the 80s and people who were born in the 2000s have completely different personalities and morals, strictly based on the society they were raised in. From an education point of view, we learn a lot by seeing the things that are around us, society also affects how we interact with others. We learn a lot by interacting with others and communicating with others, since everyone around us is also influenced by society than it sort of molds the way a lot of us learn and develop. Your family also impacts your education and the way you learn. Since you are around your family most of the time, the things that they do and the habitat they have will automatically rub off on you, and the things that they teach you will become the basis of your morals and beliefs. Your family's culture also affects your education, their culture could change a lot of factors about the way you learn. And since most people's beliefs are different, that will change the way a lot of people learn. For example, one person's culture may value paying close attention to every single thing that the teacher is saying, contrairly, another person's culture could just value taking in your surroundings and learning from the things that are around you. Lastly, culture and society also affects the social and political element of learning. Society influences our politics, since the government is chosen based on who the society thinks is suitable to have the power. And a lot of things could change for people's education, solely based on which party wins.

Culture and society influences education in different ways. speaking of culture, many countries values education and knowledge as gifts of God. For example, in India education was considered as the most valuable wealth and it was limited to few people. Culture and society, in India, understand the importance of education.
Family: Home is the first school that any child can attend. They learn basic knowledge and inspirations from their parents. Parental education has significant role in behaviour formation.
Individual: Everyone deserves support and encouragement in life, even though only individuals can improve themselves. Considering the importance of education, individuals should participate in activities and use their abilities.
Social: Social influences in education can upgrade the quality of educational methods. We notice the imperfections in education through the eyes of society. For instance, the sufferings of indigenous children revealed to society that catches everyone's attention.
Political: Interests of government and ideas of communities influences the face of education in every year. Changes are not constant. Sometimes, this influence has demerits for example, some places political view of education emerges rather than considering the needs of children.

I believe the ultimate goal of parenting children is educating them as appropriate members of the society where they belong. Therefore, the common parenting attitude of one society has a large influence on the social perspective of education. For example, Korean people are very competitive when it comes to their children. Many parents have forced their children to be greater than others, and it's resulted in an aggressively cut-throat education system in Korea. Also, the education which a person has received at home becomes what they are. Everyone has different beliefs, thoughts and philosophies about education based on what they've experienced, and those things impact an individual's learning.

Education and social values are processes that are tethered together and always evolving. We teach moral values and cultural standards but children learn best and grasp the most knowledge from exploration of surroundings and created experiences. Families also play a pivotal role as they are the “choices” the children make. For example who the children are around and what type of settings they are in and being influenced by.
Gabriel
