         <title>How did African Americans influence American society in the 1920s?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<P><B>Great Migration</B>: &nbsp;Many African Americans joined in the Great Migration from the South to industrial cities in the North<BR>where they could have better lives and economic opportunity. This movement did not only increase African American population in the North<BR> but also created a powerful force in politics, economics and people's lives.<BR></P><P><B>Harlem Renaissance:</B>&nbsp; African Americans developed arts, music and poetry. Most of their works showed how they were  proud of their culture <BR>and how they faced with discrimination and bitter racism. It also displays Southern tradition, African Heritage and modern African American culture. <BR>Their works gained  attention from Whites which had an effect in the 1960s Civil Right Movement. <BR></P><P><B>Writers: </B>Many famous writers such as Claude Mckay, Langston Huges and Zora Neale Hurston wrote lots of discription that showed about  African American's lives<BR>and how they were treated.&nbsp;&nbsp;</P><P><B>Jazz,Blues &amp;Theater:</B> The music of Harlem Renaissance is still being played today.  Louis Armstrong introduced an early form of jazz. Edward Duke Ellington developed the big band sound.<BR>Theater and night clubs were also flourishing. All of these brought fame to African American and also transform politics. <BR></P><P><B>Black Nationalism &amp; Marcus Garvey:</B> Marcus Garvey captured the imagination of African Americans with his "Negro Nationalism", which glorified the black culture<BR>&nbsp;and traditions. Garvey proposed leading his followers to Africa but it didn't success. Despite his failure,he stalled African Americans with a sense of pride in their heritage<BR>&nbsp;and inspired hope for the future. This pride and hope reemerged strongly during the 1950s and played a vital role in the civil rights movement of the 1960s.</P>]]></description>
