I’m really glad that my team made it through the quarterfinals, but I can’t say I’m fully satisfied with our performance. The lack of preparation time, combined with our inexperience, meant that we weren’t as sharp as we could’ve been, and we made some avoidable mistakes regarding the debate regulations. Looking back, I wish we had taken a more strategic approach to analyzing each motion and been more mindful of the rules to avoid unnecessary setbacks. If I could do it all over again, I’d make sure we were not just prepared, but fully confident in every aspect—both in content and in execution—so that we’d walk away with no regrets.

I felt excited and bit worried before the quarter- final debate occured. When it started, i think although i managed to prepare for argument as well as my mentality, i'm not totally satisfied with my performance because i made some mistakes about my accent and expression. However, i appreciate in competiton which helped me widen my knowledge ,improve confidence and contact with somebody in a new enviroment. Therefore, i could have more valuable experience and unforgettable memories not only in my youth but also afterwards. If given a chance to change something, i wish i could have more time to prepare my idea carefully and practise my speech fluently. Currently, it's happy and fortunate for me to be qualified for semifinal. I will try my best so as to not regret something. Thank you!

I'm so delighted that we have passed the first elimination round, albeit we've made countless flaws during our speaking. Those may stem from a lack of meticulous preparation and practical experience, along with great distress and pressure to outperform, thereby making our rebuttal disappointing. We just bargained for excellent outcomes, which turned out that we made avoidable mistakes such as failing to time correctly. To be honest, our debate turn was nothing but a mess! If there had been another chance for us, I wish we would have adopted more strategic practice planning to gain deeper insights into each motion and present our opinion more apparently. If so, our rebuttal would not only be sharp but also convincing. Despite several regrets, we acknowledge that we must try our best over and over again to go as far as we can.

Overall, I’d say I’m pretty satisfied with our quarter-final debate performance. We came in well-prepared, managed to cover all our key points, and I felt our rebuttals were strong. However, if given the chance to change something, our team would probably focus on smoothing out our transitions and tightening up our time management. We sometimes felt a bit rushed when moving from one argument to the next, and a bit more practice on that front could help us deliver our points even more clearly. It's been a valuable learning experience, and I'm excited to see how these tweaks could boost our performance in future rounds.

After the first elimination round, I was extremely dissatisfied with my performance which heavily took a toll on our general outcome. The limited timeframe combined with the unfamiliar topic substantially impaired our capabilities. If allowed to change something about our performance in this round, we would give adequate care, find reliable evidence for every motion, and not overemphasize certain topics. Moreover, in retrospect, we could've spoken with more fluency and confidence as well as utilized a more efficient presentation style to make the debate more interesting. After all, this was the first time I have ever participated in a high-stakes debating competition with little to no experience in actual debating so shortcomings were expected. With all of that being said, I hope to remedy my weaknesses and build a strong chemistry with my partner to overcome my opponents in the upcoming rounds.

After the elimination round, I feel thrilled because my team has managed to advance to the next round. However, it will be a lie if I say that I'm satisfied with my performance as the N2 speaker. Despite having prepared many evidence and ideas to counter their ideas, I was so nervous that I could barely read anything on the paper that I wrote on and my teammate had to hold my hand to calm me down. Not only did this result in the lack of clarity in my explanations, but also the failure in answering my opponents' questions in a way that is easy to understand. Probably I could have performed better if I kept calm and analyzed the opponents' ideas more thoroughly. However, through the first round, I have learnt that the key to becoming a successful debater is confidence, and only by being confident can I win against other opponents. Therefore, in the next round, I hope I can stay calm and cooperate better with my partner to give a more impressive performance.

Additionally, we were not able to remain fully calm and composed during the process, which affected our overall performance. Another key area for improvement is our ability to ask well-structured and meaningful questions, as this skill was not effectively demonstrated. Moving forward, we should focus on refining these aspects to enhance our teamwork and performance.

Our team feels extremely honored and fortunate to have made it through the qualifying round. However, there were still many shortcomings from two members of our team, especially in the second and third speaking rounds. We could not maintain our composure and calm mindset to perform as well as we had hoped. Despite thorough preparation, our lack of experience and mental resilience led to results that fell short of our expectations. However, I believe this competition will provide both members valuable lessons to improve their skills for the upcoming rounds."

In general, I was relieved that we struck it lucky in being selected as one of the teams to continue this contest. However, I found that my performance was flawed as well as unsatisfactory. As a N1 and N3 speaker, I still lacked perception of this topic due to our inexperienced assignment division. Thus, I did not present our ideas as expected, the last part of concluding gist and persuading the judge was also problematic and incoherent. If I had a chance to change the past, I would have studied all motions more carefully and organized contents more clearly. With a better approach, I believe I would perform more fluently.

the elimination round was truly a mind opening experience i got to test out my skills both on preparation and speaking, yet i underperformed and was dissatisfied with myself. First, we as a team have failed since the preparation stage as we did not gave enough care in all the given topics, especially the ones we had to debate about, i hope me and my teammate can overcome this by spending more time discussing and researching the topics, finding statistics, studies and such. Second, in my speech i was unable to keep my calm and cane off as unprofessional and inexperience, though the latter being true i will better myself to become a better presenter and perhaps find my own unique style of speech. Overall, it was a great experience going into VOU even if my performance were sub-par i am still positive stepping into the semi-finals.

I’m truly delighted that my team has advanced to the quarterfinals, but honestly, I wasn’t completely satisfied with my debate performance. Despite preparing carefully, I was still too shy to stand in front of a large audience and couldn’t perform at my best. I struggled with rebuttals and didn’t fully utilize my speaking time. However, debate is a team effort, not just about me. My teammate encouraged me, helped me stay calm, and we supported each other to finish our debate without regrets. If I had the chance to change something, I would want us to have more time to practice together - to improve our fluency, pronunciation, and understanding of all aspects of the topic. Additionally, I would strive to be more confident when facing our opponents. Ultimately, I’m truly happy that we have the opportunity to compete in the semifinals. First, I'm super glad that our teams passed the elimination round. However, I felt like my performance as an N2 speaker was terrible. Although I have prepared a lot of arguments, research, evidence, and rebuttal, I couldn't convey it all to the examiners and the opposite team. While I was speaking, my hands were shaking and it reduced my concentration as well as my fluency. As a result, I couldn't control my tone of voice, pronunciation, and speaking time. If given the chance to change something, I would like to put effort into my preparation and have some rehearsals with my partner before entering a real match. Besides that, I want to overcome my nervousness to convey our points more clearly and organized. So that's what I felt after our first debating match, I hope that we'll do better in the semi-final since we've got a bit more experience.

Although we passed the quarterfinals, I can't say that I'm completely satisfied with our team’s performance. Due to the lack of experience in gathering evidence and speaking in front of a crowd combined with a weak mentality leading to we couldn’t fully showcase our preparation and knowledge.Moreover, as a N1 speaker, I didn’t really do well in my role from scratch. I struggled to maintain a smooth flow and messed everything up because I was too nervous. However, I see these mistakes as lessons to improve myself. Our group faced several challenges in this performance, mainly due to insufficient preparation. The lack of thoroughness in content development made it difficult to present ideas clearly and confidently.
