The research team believes that Network time is leading to blurring between virtual and reality: "Digital technologies have disrupted their distinctions and norms, and produced new forms of temporality characterized by collapsed boundaries between spheres of activity (such as work and lecture) and the likelihood of combining and compressing tasks and mixing real time." (Johnson et al., 2015, p. 274). The unique experience of network time and flow state may be positive and attractive to users. Taking making friends as an example, the author believes that “compared to taking time away from 'real' friendships, for many it is social media which enables friendships to flow and social events to holders.” (Johnson et al., 2015, p. 274)

This shift has significant implications for how we understand social interactions and friendships. The ability to connect and interact with others through social media and other digital platforms allows friendships and social events to flourish in ways that were previously not possible. Johnson et al. (2015) highlight that for many people, social media enhances their ability to maintain and develop friendships, facilitating a flow of social interactions that complements rather than detracts from real-life connections.

Given this perspective, it is reasonable to consider positive interactions and participation in cyberspace as integral to real life. The digital realm is an extension of the physical world, providing additional avenues for communication, socialization, and community building. Therefore, experiences and relationships formed online should be acknowledged as authentic and meaningful components of one's overall social life. Recognizing the value of these digital interactions can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of how people navigate and balance their online and offline lives.

Yes, active interaction and participation in cyberspace should be seen as an integral part of real life, not an oppositional existence. People use the Internet for work, education, socializing, entertainment, shopping, and more.

Absolutely, positive interaction and participation in cyberspace should be viewed as integral parts of real life, not as something separate or lesser. The digital world is deeply intertwined with our physical lives, enhancing our relationships, expanding our knowledge, and offering opportunities that might not be available locally. The connections and communities we build online, whether for personal, professional, or educational purposes, provide real emotional, social, and economic benefits. Acknowledging the validity of our digital interactions recognizes the complex, hybrid nature of modern existence, where online and offline experiences continuously enrich and influence each other.
