Why is it so loud

The noises from the crowds

The booming sounds

The smell of diesel in the air

Why does no one seem to care

Replaced by concrete jungles

And the pounding of feet

Is this where I accept defeat

No.

I search through this place I do not call home

I search through this place made out of stone

I search for a place to call my own

And I found it in the light that shown

I do not hear the crowds

What happened to the loud

Quiet

Oh so quiet

Trees answer my pleas

The breeze seizes my breath

But I do not feel death

I feel free

One with the trees

Escaping a world not made for me

Home

I have found my home

A place in the universe to call my own

No sweltering crowds or pestering sounds

The concrete jungle is no more

Now I must go explore

Away from the place I used to know

Towards a place to call my home

The movie the Dead Poets Society was an inspiring movie that I throughly enjoyed. The focus on the tenets of Transcendentalism led to people trying to forge deeper connections with nature in their own company. This in turn gave birth to “self-reliance” the need to do things for yourself in solitude. Nature played a key role in the establishment of relying on oneself. To fully be able to rely on oneself you had to be able to forge a spiritual connection with nature and all its simplicity.
