Beah stuggles with Migraines from the memories he has suffered from the war he has experienced. He has the same nightmares over and over again. Beah didn't salute in return because he wanted to leave that life behind and he didn't want to have flashbacks from the war. Ishmael and his friends share a very happy experience to get their minds off of the war and relax before they head into a new town.
