I love being a teacher, but it is not the profession I thought I would be in at this stage of my life. I had the high aspirations of working in a bar in South America!

I'm originally from Dartford, a grubby little town just on the border of London and Kent. On good days in Dartford, if you close your eyes, the M25 sounds like the ocean! Fact! 

I went to Durham University to study Software Engineering and when I left I knew that I didn't want to sit in front of a computer all day. In fact, for a while, I didn't want to even see a computer, so I spent 6 months travelling Australia and New Zealand. By the time I had run out of money, my now husband (who I'd left behind) had started a job in Manchester, and so I found myself living in the North in the countryside just outside of Warrington.

I spent a year working awkward shifts in a bar in a Cheshire Golf club and I quickly decided that I could cope with working with computers again! 

This is now my sixth year of teaching (time flies when you're having fun!) and my fifth at SCC. 

I enjoy indie music, gaming and I still love travelling (see below!), but I now also love coming home to my gorgeous cat Baxter (next post). He's probably the friendliest cat you'll ever meet, but he has FIV which is similar to HIV but in felines (no, humans can't catch it!). Because of this he's not allowed outside in case he picks up infections or spreads the FIV to other cats. That doesn't stop me from panicking that he's gone missing though! After I left High School in 2014 I attended Cardinal Newman College in Preston to do American History, Politics, Religious Studies and Sociology. However, due to personal reasons I had to leave within the first 6 months. 

After, a couple of weeks I had to find myself a job. I managed to find an apprenticeship at a company called Mobiletron (an automotive electronics manufacturer) based in Longridge, Preston. Here, my job role was 'Marketing Assistant' and I learnt a lot within the industry.
