This was the first major assignment of the class, and it did not feel like it. The purpose of it was to improve the situational awareness we had at the time of creating or responding an email. The professor giving us an example really helped at the time of doing it.

This assignment was meant to reinforce the understanding of rhetorical appeals, logical fallacies, and premises. It was a pretty short and straightforward assignment.

Grammar & Mechanics Test

This was another straightforward assignment which did not have much depth to it. It was a regular grammar test, with questions very similar to those of a PSAT or SAT, which I have done a lot of.

Essay 1: Critical Response

The first major essay of the class. We needed to choose an article and created a critical response. I had a hard time quoting and the worst of all, I totally forgot to write a works cited.

Portfolio Reflection

The portfolio reflection is the final assignment of the course. I had to look back at all the other major assignments made throughout the course and see how much I improved as a writer. It was pretty straightforward mainly because there was not a lot of research involved. It was all about my experience.

External Citation/ Works Cited Quiz

This was a quick 5 question quiz that went over all the rules one needs to follow to make citations and works cited, really helpful.

Applying Literary Devices

For this assignment we had to find literary devices from a story. I really enjoyed doing this assignment mainly because I enjoyed reading the story.

Annotated Bibliography

The third major assignment of the class. For this assignment we had to find a credible source based the thesis statement. I had no trouble doing my research question and thesis statement, but I did horribly at the time of paraphrasing the source, which took my grade down.

Plagiarism Assessment

This assessment was a quick one, with only 10 questions. It helped reinforce on what is considered plagiarism or not. Pretty straightforward.

Finding Simple Facts Isn't So Simple

For this assignment we had to write an overview based on the question chosen and then find different credible sources to include in it. As always, my problem was with the paraphrasing and quoting of the sources.

Essay 2: Researched Argument

The second major essay of the class. We needed to write an essay that explains how Paley's "Samuel" connects to real-world issues. I did believe I did a lot better than last essay because of the previous assignments. I also improved on my quotes, paraphrasing, and works cited.

Essay 2 Outline

This assignment was basically a draft for the second essay. We had to decide if the cord puller in the story should be charge with second degree murder or manslaughter. The outline helped me a lot at the time of making the final essay.

Revised Annotated Bibliography

This assignment was basically an improved version of the original bibliography. We had to find 3 new sources, explain them, paraphrase them, and connect them to the thesis. It was a lot easier because I already had something to work with.
