Last but not least, before engaging in the course, my understanding of gender, ethnicity, and class was relatively basic and shaped mainly by personal experiences. Before the course, I saw gender in terms of biological differences and traditional roles, such as men being providers and women as caregivers and now I understand gender as a social construct that involves complex dimensions of identity, and systemic inequalities. Next, I understood ethnicity as a marker of cultural background and identity but didn't fully grasp the implications of systemic racism or privilege. My understanding of ethnicity now includes the recognition of systemic racism, and privilege. Lastly, I viewed class mainly in economic terms, associating it with income levels and material wealth. But after that, I have a deeper understanding of class as a structural component that affects social relations and access to resources beyond economic status.
