Especially for our assignment, "Theoretical perspective, Theoretical Framework, and Methodological Approaches." It definitely helped me hone in on TP, TF, and MA.

I also wonder if anyone has put these into a more graphic representation?

This week’s Battacharya readings described inductive analysis as follows, “inductive analysis assumes that the researcher is not starting the data analysis with any kind of pre established testable hypothesis about the data. It is the process through which qualitative researchers might look at all the raw data….and identify salient patterns after looking within and across categories (usually called codes) …” This was a useful reading for the week because I was struggling with determining if we needed to develop a research problem or topic prior to beginning our interview for the duo ethnography project.

You need to let the data do the talking instead of you “telling” people how to think about the data. Present the data in its complexities and contradictions. Let the reader figure out what they want to figure out instead of you “telling” them what to figure out. Expect that the reader is an active participant of this re-presentation.

I love how Smith centered self-determination in an Indigenous world, by privileging Indigenous concerns, Indigenous practices and Indigenous participation. Smith continues to describe the relationship between Indigenous peoples and the West. The concerns expressed by Smith from healthcare to mobilization to strategically making Indigenous self-determination an agenda to research.

Digesting the data - Bhattacharya recommends to chunk your data into manageable units of analysis (coding). You can do this by pulling out phrases, sentences, and paragraphs that stand out to you. I think it's important to remember that you may not be able to share everything from the data collected, but focus on what you can to tell the story in the best way possible.
