Circe is alone on an island with her sister, Calypso, and is extremely deprived of attention. She attempts to seduce the men that come to the island out of desperation but seems to fail every time. Circe failed to seduce two gods, Glaucus and Odysseus. The god Hermes had forcefully ended her spell, where he helped Odysseus to free his sailors.

Circe lures and tricks Odysseus into staying there for her hospitality, and forgets of returning to Ithaca; till his men remind him of their quest.
