In 1848, this was the first ever women's rights convention held in the United Stated. Organized by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, this conference was held to " discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of women," as stated in the Seneca County Courier. This is when the Declaration of Sentiments and Grievances made it's first appearance. Both men and women were invited, and this convention kick-started the movement of women's suffrage

How did the Second Great Awakening lead to the reform in Women's Rights?

The Second Great Awakening was a religious movement that pushed to change the country for the better. This opened up the opportunity to women to finally express their ideas on the inequality between men and women. After the first convention, Seneca Falls, the attendance to these gatherings increased until over one thousand attend at a time. This wide range of support led to the creation of the National Women Suffrage Association. This movement changed the inferior way that men viewed women, and forever changed the course of this country's history.
