         <description><![CDATA[<p>Some of the holidays that are celebrated in the Dominican Republic are Epiphany, Altagracia Day, Duarte Day, etc. The origin of Duarte Day is ", celebrated annually on January 26th, <strong>commemorates the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte, one of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic</strong>." The origin is "Some historians say that the official festival of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia is on January 21 because, <strong>on that day in 1691, the Battle of Sabana Real took place in the eastern part of the island of Santo Domingo, where the Spanish army, headed by Antonio Miniel, defeated the French army</strong>." These are just some of the origins of the Dominican holidays.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
