Let’s Celebrate Lunar New Year: Year of the Horse 🐎

Norco College celebrated Lunar New Year, the Year of the Horse — a symbol of strength, resilience, and forward momentum. This celebration honors cultural traditions from across Asia while bringing our campus community together through cultural activities, Asian snacks, and interactive learning.

This event will also served as an opportunity to introduce the new AANHPI Counselor/Coordinator and share information about the AANHPI Student Achievement Program.

Nowruz

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Committee, in collaboration with the AANHPI SAP, hosted a meaningful Nowruz celebration. The event featured an engaging and enlightening lecture by Dr. Dariush Haghighat from Riverside City College. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the cultural and historical significance of Nowruz while also enjoying and tasting delicious Persian food, fostering greater awareness, appreciation, and community connection on campus.

ASNC: Dodgeball Tournament

The Associated Students of Norco College (ASNC) hosted an exciting Dodgeball Tournament, bringing together over 40 clubs across Norco College for a day of friendly competition and school spirit. The AANHPI Club teamed up with the Social Gaming Club and competed through multiple rounds with great energy and teamwork. Congratulations to both clubs for winning the entire tournament! The event created a fun and engaging space for students to connect with different clubs and programs while supporting and cheering each other on.

AANHPI Afternoon Cinema

AANHPI Club members came together for a community-building social event featuring a screening of the Disney classic Mulan. The gathering included a variety of Asian-inspired snacks and drinks, creating a welcoming and culturally affirming space for students to connect. Following the film, members engaged in meaningful discussion around AAPI identity, representation, and personal experiences. The event fostered reflection, empowerment, and a stronger sense of community among participants.

2026 Equity Conference

Norco College’s Student Equity Teams, including coordinators from AANHPI SAP, Umoja, TRIO, Men of Color, Puente, and other student support programs, traveled to San Diego to attend the 2026 Equity Pathways Conference. During the three-day conference, participants engaged in meaningful discussions centered on this year’s theme, “Equity in Action: Collaborate. Implement. Transform.” Hosted by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the conference focused on advancing the implementation of the 2025–2028 Student Equity Plans and supporting the goals outlined in Vision 2030. Norco College representatives joined equity leaders and practitioners from community colleges across California to participate in peer learning opportunities, share promising practices, and collaborate on actionable strategies aimed at transforming equity planning into meaningful outcomes for disproportionately impacted students. Grounded in community-informed practices and aligned with the Guided Pathways framework, the conference emphasized bold leadership, race-conscious strategies, and structural change to help close equity gaps and strengthen student success across California community colleges.

AANHPI Club: Study Jam

Wrapping up API Heritage Month, the AANHPI Club hosted a Study Jam with light refreshments and snacks for students to connect and prepare for finals. During the event, we distributed AANHPI stoles and celebrated students’ accomplishments and future plans, including the colleges and universities they have been accepted to. It was a meaningful opportunity to build community, reflect on the semester, and encourage one another to finish the semester strong.

Congratulations to the AANHPI Graduating Class of 2026! Counselor/Coordinator Justine of the AANHPI Student Achievement Program had the privilege of handing out AANHPI stoles to graduating students in celebration of their accomplishments, resilience, and dedication as students while actively participating in AANHPI-related initiatives and programs. The stole presentation recognized students’ hard work, leadership, and commitment throughout their educational journey as they prepare for their next chapter. On behalf of the AANHPI Student Achievement Program, we are incredibly proud of all that you have accomplished and wish you the very best in your future endeavors and continued success.
