The Helmet in Mountain Bike Safety

Ralph Beck is a Virginia-based businessman who founded B-Boyz Llc, a company that actively seeks solid real estate opportunities. Apart from B-Boyz Llc, Ralph Beck also invests in other businesses in Virginia such as JETR Holdings. During his free time, Mr. Beck enjoys extreme mountain biking.

Mountain bikers enjoy the adrenaline rush that comes with riding up and down mountain slopes. That said, mountain biking is a dangerous activity and can result in serious and potentially fatal accidents. It is for this reason that experts emphasize the importance of adhering to safety precautions when starting out in this extreme sport.

One of the most important pieces of advice regarding mountain bike safety is that all riders use the proper gear, including first and foremost a helmet. Some novice riders may intentionally avoid wearing a helmet because of how hot or uncomfortable it is, but discomfort is a minor inconvenience that must be endured in order to prevent or mitigate the effects of possible head trauma should the rider fall. Moreover, experienced mountain bikers recommend not just settling for any helmet but choosing one that is high-quality, the correct size, and making sure it is properly adjusted each time one gets on the bike.

Ralph Beck of Virginia, the proprietor of B-Boyzllc and an investor in JETR Holdings, has more than two decades of entrepreneurial experience. In addition to being passionate about his work in Virginia, Ralph Beck maintains a passion for food and is particularly fond of Mediterranean cuisine.

The Mediterranean region’s many dishes consist of a huge range of foods. Below are some of the more popular Mediterranean choices.

- Patatas bravas. For this potato dish, the potatoes are fried first at a low temperature to cook them through and give them a soft interior. Next, the potatoes are fried again in hotter oil to develop a crisp, brown exterior.

- Tortilla. Although this dish shares its name with the thin dough in Spanish culture, the Mediterranean tortilla is prepared similarly to a wrap and filled with a variety of vegetables and meat.

- Saganaki. This Greek dish is often enjoyed straight from the skillet with toasted breast on the side. Saganaki is commonly made with tomato sauce and a variety of meats, cheeses, and vegetables.

A Short Guide to the Different Varieties of Tuna Sushi

The former owner of Tessy Plastics in Lynchburg, Virginia, Ralph Beck now serves as the proprietor of B-Boyz LLC in Forest, Virginia. Through B-Boyz LLC, Ralph Beck has helped develop multiple communities in addition to opening a creamery and a craft beer and barbecue establishment. When not at work, he enjoys dining out and is particularly fond of sushi.

Sushi is usually described by the Japanese names for fish, which can sometimes make menus a little overwhelming. For example, nearly a dozen terms can be used to describe tuna sushi. These names refer to the type of tuna or even the cut of meat. “Toro” is one of the most common names for tuna, and some restaurants will use it to mean any large species of tuna. Technically, however, toro refers to bluefin tuna, and high-end restaurants will break down toro even further into “akami,” which comes from the top loin; “chu-toro,” which is from the leaner sides of the fish; and “o-toro,” which is a fatty and expensive cut from the belly.

At low-end sushi bars, individuals will often encounter “maguro,” which can refer to Bigeye or yellowfin tuna. The more correct name for yellowfin, also known as ahi tuna, is “kihada.” Bigeye is formally called “mebachi,” but usually sushi restaurants use the more generic term kihada.

“Shiromaguro” refers to albacore tuna, which is what one typically find in cans. The relatively light cut can have a slight pink or red appearance, which differentiates it from the deep pink or red cuts mentioned above. Another form of tuna is “katsuo,” which could be skipjack or bonito. Usually, katsuo is skipjack, a rather pungent form of tuna that is often seared and served with scallion to mellow the flavor.

Wildflowers Found throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains

A former owner of Lynchburg, Virginia's Tessy Plastics, Ralph Beck is a real estate developer and investor with JETR Holdings. In his free time, Ralph Beck enjoys exploring Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.

First settled by colonists in the early 1700s, the Blue Ridge Mountains are renowned for their fall foliage and diverse ecosystem. There are over 1,600 colorful plant species in the mountains, including flame azaleas, which are at their brightest and most vibrant in mid-May. Catawba rhododendron, which are white, pink, or yellow flowers native to the Appalachian Mountains (which contain the Blue Ridge Mountains), often bloom during the beginning of June. They are, however, highly poisonous, so it's important to only view and not to touch them.

Other flowers that help brighten the Blue Ridge Mountains throughout the spring include dogwoods, daisies, and aster flowers. At various months throughout the summer, visitors can also find mountain laurel blueberry plants as well as wild carrot, which is an apiaceae plant with a dark red flower and a root with the smell of a carrot.
